Do You Walk for Pleasure on the Road?
Tips about how to properly walk on the roadways.
Do You Know the Rules of The Road When it Comes to Walking on Them?
Most of you should have learned this in your driving manual you got from school, but if you are a foreigner coming to this country, chances are you can not read and don't have a driver's license or you are driving illegally, which is another subject entirely.
If you walk for pleasure, do you know which side of the road you are supposed to walk on and do you know how you are supposed to walk? These couple of steps will help you from being hit and not being at fault, if you are hit.
1. Always walk facing the traffic! Do NOT walk the same way the traffic flows. If you are hit, there is nothing you can do, as you obviously do not know the rules of the road.
2, Do you walk side by side with a friend? Do not walk this way, if you or your friend get hit, there is nothing you can do about it, because, again you do not know the rules of the road. You are to walk single file, that means you walk behind your friend in a row. You can walk side by side, until a car comes, but then you must get behind your partner or friend.
3. If you walk at night, which you should try to avoid, always make sure you wear reflective clothing, otherwise you will most likely not be seen and risk getting hit, which once again not be your fault.
4. If you want to stay safe, get your drivers manual from your local DMV (Division of Motor Vehicles) and read up on road safety.
5. Last but not least, have fun walking and remember to obey the rules of the road!
