Motivation comes from within. It's a desire you want almost more than anything. Do you desire to lose weight? How bad do you want it? Are you lacking motivation because you are afraid of the work involved? Do you feel overwhelmed? Are you confused about what you need to do to get started? Do you dread working out? Why do you want to lose weight? What have you done that has been successful? What failures have you had and why?
Take a hard look at yourself through objective eyes, and pinpoint why the lack of motivation. Once you know and understand why - you can attack it by taking action.
Here are a few ways to stir up the motivation that is within you:
• Start with small goals and work towards bigger goals. Don't put added pressure and stress on yourself by creating unrealistic goals.
• Jump start your weight loss program by losing 5-10 pounds fast. This can easily be done just by changing the foods you eat. You will feel great and you will see results, which will fuel your motivation even more.
• Reward yourself. Once you have obtained your first small goal, do something nice for yourself. Celebrate! Remember how it feels to be successful.
• Take one day at a time. Focus on the day at hand. Success breads success. So, if you are successful today you can be successful tomorrow.
• Talk to yourself! I know this sounds funny, but encourage yourself and tell yourself you can do it.
• Track your progress through video or camera. Compare yourself monthly. See where you have improved or what you need to work on.
