Pro-musicians and guitarists who have been playing the guitar for quite a long time have mastered the art of repairing the guitar on their own. Here, is a do it yourself guitar repair guide which will prove helpful to carry out minor running repairs, or prevent further damage before a professional takes over.
Most expert guitarists and musicians know their instruments very well. This is the only reason that they are able to repair their guitars on their own with ease. Guitar repair is not exactly a very difficult or impossible task to manage. Constant handling of the instrument, improvisation of the stringing, tuning and playing greatly help in accomplishing the do it yourself repair of the guitar.

Stringing the Guitar
One of the most important aspects of the repairing the guitar is the process of stringing the guitar. Strings of a guitar, especially an acoustic one, are pretty delicate and tend to break often. At times, these strings break due to the fact that the tuning tension that is prevalent on the strings becomes unbearable material and the string reaches its break point. The tenacity of the strings of an acoustic guitar is rather less and hence one should be extra cautious while tuning the acoustic guitar. As compared to the acoustic guitar, the break strength of strings of electric guitars and bass guitars is much greater, due to which the life of the strings of these guitars is also more. The stringing process of the guitar is very simple. All you need to do is remove the old or broken string from the socket and tuning peg. Then take a new string and put its lower end in the socket. Tie the other end to the bigger bracket and make a loop to secure it. Tune the guitar and give the strings a strum. This process of stringing/restringing is very simple and straight forward. Every person playing the guitar should know this process as changing guitar strings is frequently required for the guitarists. It is better to carry out the process as many times as possible, because with practice, the stringing gets better and better. At a certain point of time, you will require only about 10 to 15 minutes to change the strings on your guitar.

Neck Bend
A neck bend would have been a horrific nightmare for guitars if they had been living beings. The pressure of the strings that is exerted on the neck of the guitar pull the wood in an upward direction. This pull makes the neck bend in a forward direction. The neck bend produces an unhealthy sound and is also uncomfortable for the players fingers. Many of us commit the stupid mistake of trying to straighten the bent neck with the help of an Allen key. However this is not necessary, as wood, all of us know, is a natural material and is made up of fibers. The best way to repair a bent neck is to remove all the strings and place the guitar in a slant position with the fret board facing the wall.

Sound Hole
The sound hole is present only in the acoustic guitars. The best way to clean the sound hole is to remove all the strings, and wipe the inside of the body and sound hole with a clean cloth. The dirt that settles down inside the sound hole reduces the sound and tonal quality of the guitar. By cleaning the sound hole, one can get a very clean quality and tone of the guitar strings.

Distort Sound
At times it so happens that the notations of the guitar get disturbed and distorted as they tend to touch the fret board. In order to get a cleaner notations, just increase the 'action' of the strings with the help of screws that are present near the sockets.

One of the most important things that you should remember is, to handle the guitar with care and love.
