Divers Recover Large Tail Section from Air France Flight

The largest piece of Air France Flight 447 has been recovered from the Atlantic Ocean, raising hopes that the black boxes from the flight may eventually be located.
As of this writing, 16 bodies have been recovered from Air France Flight 447, as well as a growing number of pieces of the plane wreckage, with the largest piece yet being from the tail section of the plane. All of this seems to indicate that it will be possible for investigators to narrow the search area for where the plane's black boxes may lie somewhere on the Ocean floor.

A team of U.S. Navy signal experts and search equipment is being flown to Brazil to aid in the search for the plane's black boxes. Investigators are hopeful that if the boxes are recovered, they may shed some much-needed light on exactly what went wrong during the flight and why the plane crashed into the ocean, killing everyone on board.

The governments of France and Brazil have demonstrated great resolve in providing resources to search for wreckage and to ultimately determine the cause of the crash. France has sent a nuclear submarine as well as other deep-sea recovery equipment to search for and eventually try to recover the boxes and any other vital pieces of wreckage that will help investigators determine the cause of the crash.

The Brazilian government has not released the coordinates of the exact search area, but has revealed that it is somewhat southeast of the last transmission from the plane. That has led some to speculate as to whether the plane had attempted to turn around and land on the Fernando de Noronha islands, roughly 400 miles from the crash site.
