Dish Network Internet: Can it Be as Good as Cable or DSL?

My friends all have high-speed Internet access, so I figured it was time for us to step into the current century. Problem is, with no access to cable or DSL, what are the choices? Enter Dish Network Internet. But does it measure up?
High speed Internet service – who needs it? For years I thought paying for DSL or other high speed services was a waste of money. After all, the only thing I used the Internet for was checking my email and "googling" the occasional item.

Then, my kids went to school and started using the computer to do their homework, talk with their friends, and join 1,001 different "virtual" pet worlds the Internet now offers.

Next, I invested in a good digital camera to capture all of our family memories, and suddenly I was spending hours and hours waiting for my computer to upload the pictures I was taking and send them off to the local photo center for printing.

Like most modern families, our computer has become a lifeline to the world. Suddenly I realized it was time to give up the old-fashioned dial-up and invest in a good quality high-speed Internet service.

I started calling around to see what companies offered what services and realized that there weren’t many options in our neck of the woods (and boy, do I mean woods). Cable service wasn’t available and neither was that DSL thing everyone was talking about. Hey, I thought, this isn’t fair. What’s a person in the sticks supposed to do?

I was complaining about my dilemma at a school function and the computer teacher offered a suggestion (thank goodness for computer teachers). "Why not try Dish Network Internet?" He asked. "What’s that?" I asked in my ignorance. With a chuckle he explained.

Dish Network (you know, the great satellite TV people), now offer high-speed Internet service using their satellite technology to people everywhere – including the most out-of-the-way areas. Like DSL and other cable services, Dish Network Internet offers instantaneous connection all of the time. Powered by WildBlue, it frees up your phone line, allowing one person in your house to use the Internet, while another talks on the phone. That sounded like a miracle to me. I don’t think I’ve called home in three years without hearing that annoying busy beep.

Some other bonuses offered by Dish Network Internet include:

• up to 5 free email addresses
• free installation
• free anti-virus/anti-spyware software
• free spam filtering
• and more

Ok, let’s say I was hooked. Within five minutes of returning home that evening I was on the phone ordering this amazing service, and I couldn’t be happier. Now everyone has what they want: Fast Internet service, instant emailing, telephone availability, and a mom who’s not always yelling to get off of the computer!
