Discover The Great Barrier Reef

An idyllic holiday spot, a haven for nature lovers and home to the largest ecosystem on the planet. Find out why your next holiday should be on the Great Barrier Reef.
The Great Barrier Reef, runs for over 2,000 kilometers (1,200 miles) along the eastern seaboard of North Queensland, Australia. It is the largest natural living structure on earth and can be seen from outer space.

It is made up of nearly 3,000 individual coral reefs and encompasses over 900 islands, many of which are uninhabited.

Without seeing it first hand it is impossible to describe how beautiful it truly is. It is a tropical paradise that you need to experience up close and personal to fully appreciate.

The reef supports the largest ecosystem on the planet with over 6,500 types of mammal, marine and plant life.

With a year round water temperature ranging from 22 to 29 degrees Celsius (71 to 84 F) it is the perfect place for diving, swimming and fishing.

The Great Barrier Reef affectionately called the ‘Reef" is a fabulous holiday destination, with everyone being catered for. From budget backpacking, to family camping to exclusive resorts the reef has something to offer everyone.

Stay on the mainland and travel to the islands daily or stay on one of the 23 Island Resorts. Which ever you choose, you can do as much or as little as you desire.

Try your hand at fishing; fly like a bird while parasailing; get close to the coral in a glass bottom boat; take in a scenic joy flight; go whale watching or just lie on a private beach and soak up the sun.
Whatever, you do, you must go scuba diving or snorkeling and discover the spectacle of the coral reef and the abundant fish life. You will be amazed and dazzled by the colors and shapes.

You will marvel at the turquoise water of the Reef, I know I do, every time I go. It is an incredible place and a holiday spot you really must not miss out on. Everyday is a day in paradise.

If you like holidays that are full of adventure and back to nature then look no further than Hinchinbrook Island with no telephones or television you will be able to relax and unwind. However, if you are into night life, fun and action then take a look at Hamilton Island. But if you want to relax with your partner in luxury then choose from Hayman Island and Lizard Island.

Where ever you decide to stay, I know you will enjoy it. The Great Barrier Reef has so much to offer, it truly is a piece of paradise.

Happy Traveling
