Discount Beauty Supplies - Just a Beautiful Lie?

You have a beauty regimen to maintain. Before going to work, you have already used a shopping cart full of beauty supplies just to keep up with this routine - designer shampoo, conditioner, body wash (salts if you took a bath), lotion, deodorant, toner, moisturizer with sun block, foundation, concealer, loose powder, eye shadow, mascara, eye liner, blush on, lipstick, lip gloss, and of course, a splash of your favorite cologne or just a drop if you are using your 10 an ounce perfume. The 21st century woman needs all of these and according to the top magazines in the racks, these are actually considered as "basics." The almost daily use of these products has lead most of us to seek discount beauty supplies.

The local mall, town beauty shops and drug stores usually have discount counters that offer beauty products that offer around 5-10 discounts. Usually, these are products that are still good but have slight packaging defects, or these may be the items with flavor that is less popular, but still of the same designer brand. Discounted beauty products are also offered when the items are bought in bulk or are bought directly from the manufacturer. Authorized online beauty dealers also offer discounts on your favorite trendy beauty products. These online alternatives are becoming more and more popular as they offer convenience, allowing you to shop without leaving the comforts of your couch.

Some discounts, in both online and actual shopping, are too good to be true. And in most times, they are just that, too good to be actually real. Most of these products are knockoffs produced by unscrupulous businessmen. And with the arrival of software that can copy the most intricate packaging, it is really hard to distinguish which one is real and which one is counterfeit among all these discount beauty supplies.

Manufacturers of these forged beauty products have no regulations to follow in making these items. Often times, they use substitute chemicals that are dangerous for human use. There are some fake products that are laced with mercury and perfume with, believe it or not, urine. Also, these products are not stored in proper places that are required of these temperature-sensitive items, leading to irritation and possibly infection. These are just some of the risks you face whenever you buy knockoffs. Not to mention that it is believed that these illegal activities use minors as workers in appalling locations, without any safety gear to protect them and its profits are used for organized crimes.

Bottom line is, buying beauty products at huge discount offers risks. Legitimate products at discount do exist, just make sure you do buy discount beauty supplies at authorized shops you know only offers authentic goods. And if the product looks shady or the seller himself looks shifty, then it is best to pay a couple of bucks more, which you do usually, than risk buying beauty products that are indeed cheap, but may result to you irritation, skin disease, or even hospitalization. Better safe than sorry as they say!
