As the market continues to get flooded with new broadcast television and Internet service providers - each boasting that their services are the best in the industry, the consumer is left confused not knowing which service provider to opt for. Going by the rule of the thumb, it is always wise to opt for a service provider who has settled in the market. That, however, doesn't ease the problem much, with three major players ruling the United States home entertainment industry - DirecTV, Cable TV and Dish Network. With a customer base of 40 million, DirecTV is indeed one of the leading service providers in the United States, but does it really have an edge over Cable TV and Dish Network is a question which is difficult to answer without reviewing the services on offer.

DirecTV Services

DirecTV is a direct broadcast satellite service which provides satellite TV and Internet services in the United States. Its subscribers can access numerous video and audio channels by means of a satellite dish and set top box (STB). DirecTV has a range of packages to offer, right from the Family Pack which offers 50+ channels to the Premier Pack which offers 280+ channels to its subscribers. It also has special sports packages, in form of NFL Sunday Ticket and NASCAR HotPass, to its credit. Its Internet service, on the other hand, can be accessed through satellite dish, DSL as well as broadband cable. In order to make this possible, the company has signed a contract with some of the leading Internet service providers in the market.

DirecTV Reviews

As we mentioned earlier, DirecTV banks on two of its most popular services - broadcast television and Internet. In order to make it convenient for you to understand, we decided to split this review into two parts - satellite television review and Internet services review.

Satellite Television
The HDTV feature on offer is one of the most prominent feature of its reviews. Subscribers get more HD channels as compared to the subscribers of any other television, that of course depends on which package you opt for, with the Premier Pack having the most number of High-Definition TV channels in the lot. If DirecTV customer reviews are taken into consideration, it has a clear cut edge over the Cable TV, and a large part of the credit for this goes to the excellent customer service they provide. The fact that this service is accessed by means of a satellite dish does make it vulnerable to weather conditions, such as cloud cover or heavy rains, but that is just one of the few negatives as opposed to several positives of this service.

Internet
Even though DSL method is the slowest among the three methods by which you can access DirecTV Internet, it can give various other service providers a run for their money. The problem of weather conditions does prevail in case of Internet review, but it is restricted to satellite Internet in this case. While Internet access through DSL and broadband cable is smooth, it is only possible if you have DSL or broadband cable facility in your neighborhood. DirecTV Satellite Internet is an ideal option for places where this facility is not available. The best thing about their high speed Internet is that you have the option of choosing the method which is convenient for you.

DirecTV services, many people believe, come heavy on the pocket, and this is considered to be the most prominent deterrent. Even opting for a two year contract is not quite a feasible option for an average customer as the buyout clause which comes with this contract is pretty heavy. At the end of the day, it's the overall picture which has to be taken into consideration. If you are ready to pay more to get the best quality picture DirecTV is meant for you, if not you should contemplate some other alternative.
