Dining Out in Thai Style
Think Thai food, think variety! This is what makes Thai food different from every other cuisine in the world. If you are planning to go out for Thai dinner then you need to order a variety of dishes so that you can feel the heart and soul of Thai food. Most countries have a meal that starts with a soup or some accompaniment followed by the main course and then the dessert and each person in a family can place their own separate order. But that is not how Thai style dining happens.
In Thailand, a formal meal would ideally start with soup, which is not a starter but a part of the main course and hence, served with the other dishes. If you really want to feel the warmth of Thai food, order meat dishes, and at least one dish of Thai seafood or river fish. Thai dishes are served in the form of stir-fries combined with beef or chicken or even tangy salads. You can even start with a noodle dish if you are new to Thai food. Noodle dishes will have a generous combination of vegetables, beef, pork, meat, or seafood. Once, you have felt the taste of Thailand with the fiery curry spreading warmth in your body, go in for some cold desserts to get the ‘fire and ice’ feeling. The most common desserts in Thailand include coconut and sticky rice as the main ingredients.

Note: When you are ordering Thai food, ensure that you specify in advance the amount of spice you want.
An important aspect of having Thai food is to enjoy it the Thai way! This means that you will need to order food depending on the number of people seated at your table. In Thailand, food is always shared by all those seated in a table and this sharing of food will be quite a different experience all together.
Most Thai dishes have meat or fish as the main attraction but if you are a vegetarian then you can try some of their tofu preparation, which are exquisite. You can also order beer or authentic Thai brew like Singha or Chang to go with your meal.
Thai food offers a lot of variety but only when you eat it in a family style where the food is shared amongst everyone on your table, will you be able to feel the essence of it all.
