Dictionaries, which are one type of reference material, pertain to resources usually in the form of books that contain words that are alphabetically organized and include information about their forms, pronunciations, meanings, functions, etymologies and syntactical and idiomatic uses. Some dictionaries provide translations of words from one language to another, while others feature terms on a specific subject such as medicine, science and literature.
