Dictate the Tune

Next Chapter. Do choose to blame others for your actions for they made the decision for you and your life is as a result of what they decided for you or make the mistakes by yourself and learn from them.
Do you dictate the tune?

I once knew a friend who through the persuasion from friends and family to study medicine in higher institution agreed. And after graduating he became one of the most successful doctors for about eight years. One day he called me and said, "I am going back to school to read law, the course of my choice." I asked why and he replied saying, "I am not happy with what I am doing even though I am making a fortune from it." This means that he allowed someone to dictate the tune. The piper is playing the tune he did not dictate and yet he is paying for it.

Do you decide the course of your life or let someone else do it for you? Do you wait for others before you take any decision? A wise person makes his own decision; a fool waits for public opinion. John Mason was right when he said. 'If you don't decide the course of your life, someone would do it.' My friend realizes the tragedy of letting someone make his decision for him, and now he is one of the most successful lawyers in the country and arguably the happiest in his new found profession. Studies has shown that most people allow someone else to take decisions for them because they do not want to take responsibility for their act if something goes wrong. Get down from the fence, it's either you jump in or you jump out. Make your decisions and stand by it. Life is all about risk. Life would not be fun if we do not take risk.

The greatest accomplishments were done by making risky decisions. Your destiny is not a matter of chance; it is a matter of choice. (John Mason). Do not live your life with uncertainties or probabilities. Probability is a faint lingering spirit with-holding one from making one of two decisions. It chooses both and doubts both. What you commit yourself to do will change you from what you are to what you can become. Decisions determines destiny. Remember the decisions of today will affect your tomorrow. So when you make a decision especially in choosing a career, make sure it is one that would give you happiness while you are doing it and you will be able to feel a sense of satisfaction. And know the difference between: "I have decided to do it... and maybe I will do it."
