Dick Grayson, You're Such A Dit - Part 2

kelli let's herself be captured.
Part 2

We have a problem here, I realize. Mr. Dapper and his goons want Robin, that being me, to contact Bruce Wayne about a ransom payment for Dick Grayson. Whether they would turn his youthful charge over, unharmed later, is another story. My needs were much different. I wanted them to take me to where they held Dick in the hopes Alfred. and help, would be led to the two of us by the signal omitting from the utility belt I was wearing.

They didn't want to blindfold me so, as I saw it, the only way they would feel it safe to take me to their hideout was if I was unconscious, out cold, senseless. If I were knocked out I wouldn't know a thing about how I arrived, or where, would I?

Of course they were too dumb to reach that conclusion so I brought it up myself. "Knock me out," I announced.

They all looked at each other. Mr. Dapper spoke. "No. No need for that. Just take the message back to Wayne. That's all we need you to do. We only use rough stuff........"

I cut him off. "If I don't see that Dick Grayson is alive and healthy then I don't carry that message to Mr. Wayne."

Mr. Dapper just shrugged. "Suit yourself Boy Wonder."

I almost looked around wondering who he was talking to until I remembered it was me, Kelli dressed as Robin, he was addressing. I leaned back glumly. This was going nowhere. The creep next to me leaned across and opened the car door. "Out."

I had a plan and I'm a strong willed girl. I wasn't about to be dismissed so easily. I lunged at Mr. Dapper. I swung a blow at him intending it to miss, which is what it did.

"Cripes!! " He yelled as, Logan, the creep beside me, flung me back against the seat, balled his fist, glanced at Mr. Dapper, who gave Logan a quick nod. The punch landed on my jaw. The lights went out and I was off to dreamland.

And that's where I stayed for a goodly time. When I did come to I saw Dick Grayson in a chair across from me. He looked comfortable but not very happy. That's because his arms were lashed to the arms of a chair and his legs to the legs of that same chair. He was shaking his head in wonder as he saw my eyes open.

"Who....? Just who are you.?" He asked.

I was tempted to tell him "why Boy Wonder" just to be funny. He, of course, knew I wasn't Robin after all so I decided not to be a comedian. On the other hand I couldn't tell him I actually was, Kelli Meyer. And Kelli Meyer was tied to her very own chair just as he was.

"I've come to rescue you," I said.

He rolled his eyes. "Allow me to be skeptical. You look to be in the same predicament as me."

"Where are we?"

"Don't know. I came to here. In this chair. They carried you in about ten minutes ago. You were dead to the world."

I nodded. "Part of the plan," I informed him.

"Oh. And how's that?"

I forced them to knock me out so they'd bring me here."

"You're not Robin. So you're pretending to be and how's that part of the plan?"

"It's complicated," I answered vaguely. "Just stick with me and everything will turn out fine." I hope, I whispered under my breath. If Alfred does his part.

I had no idea how long it had been since I was knocked out. Where they took me. And when it would be when Alfred, police in tow, would come to our rescue. Somehow I knew Alfred, the mother hen that he was, wouldn't let me down.

Dick Grayson was squirming against the bonds that held him. As he did his chair kept screeching against the floor.

"Hey. Be calm," I said. "Don't cause them to hear us."

"I'm almost free," Dick said. "The ropes are getting looser."

Him getting free was not in the plan. An all out brawl with Mr. Dapper and his gigantic thugs would be counter productive I thought. "Please," I begged. "Just wait. Help will be here soon. They can handle the meanies."

Dick paid me no heed. He kept on struggling and making noise as he did.

"Please! Stop," I pleaded. "You'll ruin everything."

He did stop for a moment and glared at me. "Fella. Whoever you are and why ever you are pretending to be Robin so you can rescue me. Ha!!!"

Then Dick went back to struggling with his bonds. He did think I was a guy masquerading as Robin, the Boy Wonder. That was good news. The bad news was, and it hurt, I must have looked to him like a boy. That doesn't say much for my physical profile, does it?
