  • First of all, you will have to decide what size you want your diaper cake to be. The cake’s size will determine the number of diapers that you will require. Here is a general idea, which you can use as a guideline: Top Tier - 5 to 8 diapers; Middle Tier - 25 diapers; Bottom Tier - 45 diapers.
  • Roll each diaper into cylinders, using rubber bands or scotch tape to keep the shape. Begin making the cake by forming the bottom tier, by attaching each diaper to the other, either with tape or safety pins, so that it forms a circular, cylindrical shape. Similarly, make the middle tier and the top tier.
  • The tiers can be attached to each other with pins or adhesive tape. You can also use glue, but it will be messier when the cake is disassembled. A fluffy baby blanket can be used to wrap the lower tiers of the diaper cake.
  • A special item, such as a baby doll, can be placed on the top tier. Other types of stuffed toys can also be pinned on the topmost layer of the cake.
  • The cake can be decorated with various items like ribbons, colored paper, pacifiers, rattles, bibs, baby shampoo, and so on.
Many of these things can be hidden within the diaper cake so that the new mom will continue being pleasantly surprised by your creative and thoughtful gift for many days after the event.
