Causes
The main cause that leads to blisters is ignoring diaper rash when it first occurs. Diaper rash that is ignored and left untreated is worsened by bacteria and yeast found in urine and stools that further damage the skin and make it prone to blistering. If the baby is in a diaper for long hours even after the occurrence of a diaper rash, it will surely turn into blisters. They can affect the buttocks, anus, abdomen and sometimes even the thighs of the baby. It appears in the form of pus filled boils with surrounding redness. Severe diaper rash blistering is considered as a bacterial or yeast infection and may also require medical treatment at times.
Prevention
Preventing rash and blisters is more appropriate rather than trying to treat the condition which may cause a lot of pain and discomfort to the baby. Diaper rash blisters requires to be treated medically to eliminate the infection and once that is done, it can be cured following a few simple remedies. The medication may include topical application of antibiotic ointments and antibiotic oral medication as well. The precautionary measures and remedies are mentioned below.
Treatment
Diaper Change: Change the baby's diapers as soon as you realize that it is soiled or wet. It is advisable that you frequently check the baby's diapers so that you are able to change it quickly. Once you remove the diapers, clean the area covered by it with warm water, not baby wipes, and a diluted antibacterial solution. Then wipe off the water thoroughly with a soft washcloth or towel. Do not put on another diaper immediately. Let the baby be without them for sometime so that the skin gets exposed to some fresh air.
Diaper Type: If your baby is prone to developing diaper rash, then it might be due to the type of diaper being used. Try switching over to cloth diapers if you are using disposable ones and vice-a-versa. You can also use cloth diapers at home and the disposable ones when out of home.
Detergents: The detergents used to wash baby clothes and diapers, should be extremely mild. The towels and other clothes used should also be washed with mild detergents, and should be rinsed well and put to dry under the sun. You can also use diluted vinegar to wash baby clothes.
Home Remedies: Application of aloe vera gel, olive oil or milk of magnesia is known to be very beneficial in treating diaper rash blisters. These soothe the skin and speed up the healing process.
So these were some preventive as well as treatment remedies for baby diaper rash blisters. Make sure that you follow them even when the baby has no diaper rash so that it is prevented and the complications can be avoided.
