Devon Energy

Headquartered in Downtown Oklahoma City, Devon Energy Corporation, is a leading oil and gas exploration and production company.
Devon Energy Corporation is one of the leading independent oil and gas exploration and production companies in the world. It has its headquarters in downtown Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA. While operations are primarily concentrated in the United States and Canada (over 90 percent of Devon’s oil and gas production coming from America), the company also produces oil and natural gas in countries such as China, Brazil and Argentina, exploring these valuable resources for these host countries. With around 5,500 employees worldwide, Devon is headed by co-founder, Chairman and CEO, J. Larry Nichols.

The company produces about 65 percent natural gas and 35 percent oil and natural gas liquids, including propane, butane and ethane. The 2.5 billion cubic feet of natural gas produced by Devon each day accounts for around 3 percent of all the gas consumed in North America. Devon owns natural gas pipelines and treatment facilities in many of its production facilities. A Fortune 500 company, Devon is included in the S&P 500 Index and trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol DVN.

Devon Energy Corporation serves to provide environment-friendly production of oil and gas. It has also been a leader in community relations programs. Examples are the Ambassador Program it established in the United States and the Wise Eyes community watch program it sponsors. It has also received the Outstanding Philanthropic Organization Award in 2007 from the Oklahoma chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

Currently based in the 20-storey Mid America Tower, Devon Energy Corporation plans to replace it with a taller 54-storey, 282m (925 ft) building, the Devon Tower. This signature tower, once completed by 2012, would be the tallest building in Oklahoma City, another attraction for guests of OKC hotels to check out.
