The ball......and even though I am writing this story I want to punch Sonya! ahahahaha! Comment comment comment!
Devilishly Delectable Chapter 7
Its been two weeks since that night my world fell apart. I did what I said I would do, buried my head in my work and didn’t come back up. Considering Sonya was over every god damn night of the week I found a liking to my ipod. It has been constantly stuck in my ears. Tate and I haven’t spoken except for the occasional, good morning but that was rare because I have been getting up a around 5 so I could avoid him and not coming back home till about ten. As for seeing Maddox well that hasn’t actually happened. He has been so busy with work I guess, that I haven’t seen him around. I always find myself trying to search for him, I don’t have the guts to go up to his office though. Work has been unbearable. I have been getting none stop glares from all the models, constant questions about my relationship with Maddox and constant questioning whether or not I will be getting promoted because of it.

RING! My alarm went off again. It’s five o’clock. I have slept for about five hours. I didn’t get home until eleven and I had to finish my dress for the ball tonight. It was a beautiful cream colored, silk dress with laces coming down from the top. It was a one-shoulder dress and I couldn’t help but admire my creation, It has taken me around one month to make. I was saving it for a special occasion, like tonight for example. A lot of time and effort has gone into this dress and it has turned out perfectly.
I slowly and unwillingly got out of bed. I decided to take a long hot shower. After about twenty minutes, I got out and chose my outfit for the day. I decided on a plain whit singlet, my black jacket, dark blue skinny jeans and my ankle high, shiny black boots. That should do it. I put them on, applied my mascara, eyeliner and a little lip-gloss. I grabbed my black tote bag and walked down the stairs. I was about to walk out the door when I felt a hand grab me. They twisted me around and pushed me up against the wall. I opened my eyes and found Tate’s chocolate brown ones.
"Tate let me go." I tried to push him off but he was too strong and I was just too tired.
"No."
"Tate seriously move or I swear to god."
"Have you looked in the mirror lately Sadie."
"What?"
"Have you seen yourself Sadie? Your eyes look so tired. You look so tired."
"Tate what I do doesn’t concern you." I tried to sound big but it came out small.
"When was the last time you ate?"
"Tate just move."
"No not until you answer my question."
"Yesterday."
"How many meals?"
"Tate move now!"
"No."
I sighed. There was no point in fighting him. "I don’t know Tate. Two I guess."
"What were they?"
"Oh god Tate would you get off my back?"
"Sadie have you seen yourself. You don’t eat, you don’t sleep, you go to work at five and come home at eleven. You’re wasting away Sadie."
"Yeah and who’s fault is that?" I regretted those words as soon as they came out because the truth was it wasn’t his fault. He dropped his hands and took a step back. I reached out and put my hands to his face. He put his hands over the top of mine.
"I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it, I’m just so…exhausted." He nodded his head. We looked eyes and it was like I could feel him.
"TATE BABE WHERE ARE YOU!" Sonya’s voice sang from the top of the stairs. That’s all I needed. I pushed him off me and walked out of the door. As I entered the lift I couldn’t help but think that he if truly cared about me then why did he keep her around? I felt new tears fall from my eyes. Through the last two weeks tears are the only things that touched my face. I quickly wiped them away and commenced my journey to work.

I got there with in twenty minutes. I didn’t mind walking for some reason it cleared my mind. I walked to the elevator and pressed the button for my floor. Just as the doors were about to close an arm slipped through them. I looked up and saw Maddox.

"Hi." I barely whispered. He gave me his dazzling smile with his sparkling eyes.
"Hi." I smiled a little. Unfortunately two older ladies walked in behind him. They looked at the both of us and began whispering in what sounded like…Spanish? I couldn’t be sure. I rolled my eyes. I then remembered the time that Maddox and I were at his father’s party and we snuck away in the freezing winter cold just so we could make out. Unfortunately it was dark and I didn’t see that all my lipstick had smudge all over his face and he started to make conversation with these two very old ladies. I couldn’t hold it in any longer. I began to laugh, remembering his face when he realized. They all turned to look at me and I quickly put my hand over my mouth. I should have been completely embarrassed but I couldn’t stop smiling. I looked at Maddox who was looking at me with utter confusion.
The elevator stopped and the two ladies got out looking at me like I was a complete weirdo. The doors closed and I realized that it was just Maddox and I.

"What was so funny?" He asked.
"Wouldn’t you like to know?" I looked at his face and couldn’t help but laugh again. He was staring at me more confused than before. He looked so innocent. The elevator stopped again and this time it was my floor.
"Please tell me?" He asked innocently. I walked out of the elevator and turned around.
"Your father’s Christmas party, 2003." I saw his face turn a bright red as the doors closed. I couldn’t help but giggle. Oh sweet memories. Well it was one of the good ones I suppose. I walked down the corridor towards my office. No one was in yet and they wouldn’t be for a while. It was only six. We had a lot of stuff to do today. We had just released this month’s issue last week so we have to start for next’s month. It never stops here. It is just constantly turning and in some way weird and twisted way I liked it.

After about six hours of work everyone was leaving so we could get ready for the ball tonight.
"Hey sweetie. I was thinking we get ready at yours today? Is that okay?"
"Yeah that sounds good. Um…how about I meet you there? I think I will be another hour. I just have to finish with the spread sheet."
"Alright but no later than one hour okay or I will have to seen the Calvary."
I giggled. "Okay no more than one hour."
He kissed me on the cheek and left with the rest of the group. About ten minutes later my phone started to ring. I looked at the caller id…Reggie.
"Hey it’s only been ten minutes." I said jokingly.
"Sadie you better get back here like now!"
"Why has something happened? Is everything okay?"
"Nothing has happened to the apartment if that’s what your thinking but I seriously recommend you get here now!"
I sighed. It better be something important. I saved everything on my computer and shut everything down then made my way home. I decided to catch a cab this time. It took me ten minutes.
Once I got up to the apartment I slid the door open and saw Reggie, Corrine and Ingrid standing in front of my dress. More or less guarding it.
"Guys? Whats the matter?"
"I don’t think we should show her." Ingrid whispered.
"Well its too late now." Reggie whispered back.
"I can here you, you know? Just tell me already."

They all looked at each other then nodded. Each of them stepped to the side and I looked up at my…dress.
"OH MY GOD!" I practically screamed. There were tears every in the dress, from scissors no doubt, and all the lace was pulled off it. I felt like crying.
"W-w-what happened?" I stammered. I walked over to the dress and began to pick up each part of the lace.
"We don’t know. We just came here and saw it like this." Ingrid said.
"God who would do something like this?" Corrine wondered aloud.
"I know exactly who did it and when I find her I am going to rip her stupid little head off."
"Wait…it was Sonya wasn’t it." Reggie said. I started to take deep breaths.
"I am going to kill her!" I yelled.
"Look we will deal with Sonya later but right now we have to make your dress."
"Its too late now Reggie. We will never make it in time. Do you know how long it took for me to make this?"
"Yes but you didn’t have us at the time did you?"
"We wont make it."
"Not with that attitude we won’t. In the right corner we have Ingrid who is the world’s faster sewer and in the left corner we have Corrine who can draw up any pattern for anything and then there is you and I. We can make anything work. We will have your dream dress promise."
"Okay lets do it!"
"Great!"

We didn’t stop moving the whole time. Corrine made the patterns to my dress, which was perfect. Luckily there was just enough material to make my dress. We had to reuse the lacy string parts but that was okay. The whole time though I could help but think about slapping little miss priss in the face or finding something of hers and just…
"We’re finished!" They all sang. Ingrid was holding it up and it was perfect. Exactly the way I had left it. I gave them all, the biggest hug.
"You guys are the most amazing friends in the world."
"We know." Reggie said.
"I don’t know about all of you but I’m pooped." Ingrid said. We all laughed. I looked at Reggie’s watch and saw that it was almost five thirty.
"Oh my gosh! We have to get ready." I said. They all looked at the clock and suddenly we were moving again. We all ran up to my room and started to get ready. I felt like we were all children again, playing dress ups. I wish we were. I loved being a child, so naive about everything, love, relationships, work, and heartache. You didn’t have to worry about anything. I missed those days.
It was six thirty by the time we were ready. My dress looked stunning and fit me perfectly, I added my cream pink heels and pulled my hair up in a bun, I applied a little mascara, lip-gloss and foundation as well as blush. Just plain make up.
I surprisingly didn’t run into Tate though. I guess I was happy about that. After our little confrontation this morning and his stupid girlfriend I don’t think I would be a very happy camper.

We made our way down to the lobby where Pete said the limo was waiting. Tonight is a very special night; it was the annual ball where all of the investors, photographers, models and those who could be future investors are invited. That means it is very formal and the rules state that anyone who gives us a bad name tonight well lets just say they won’t be getting a job anytime soon. Well that was Marta’s rule anyway; I’m not quiet sure about Maddox though.
We arrived at Le Belle Chambre, translated means the beautiful room in French. Only the richest of the rich throw parties here. I heard it cost at least one hundred grand to hire out the place. It was past the city. It was pretty much like a mansion, the ceilings were painted with gold flakes and all of the ornaments were gold as well. We walked past all of the paparazzi and into the massive ballroom. It looked like it could fit at least one thousand people in it. Gold was everywhere. There were gold chairs, tables, cutlery even the centerpiece was a gold candle holder. There was an amazing chandler that hung above the dance floor. There was a stage at the very back with classical music playing. Everyone was here, looking absolutely stunning.

"Wholly crap." Reggie whispered in my ear.
"Dido." I whispered back. We usually had our annual party at one of the places in the city. Never would we dream of having it here.
"I’m going to go get a drink. Want one?" Reggie whispered.
"No I’m just going to circle."
"Kay I will meet up with you." And just like that he was gone. Ingrid and Corrine left as well. I began to walk around; I couldn’t help but look up at the amazing ceiling. It had angles painted on them with you guessed it gold flakes, but it was breath taking. Suddenly I bumped into a body. I looked up to see Maddox.

"Oh sorry. I wasn’t watching were I was going."
"It’s okay Sadie. How are you enjoying the party?"
"It’s…I mean this place is breath taking. I’ve only ever seen pictures but it’s amazing. How did you get it anyway?"
"Wouldn’t you like to know?" He flashed me a dazzling smile and I laughed.
"Tushay."
"What made you think of that night anyway."
"Those two old ladies. They reminded me about the ones that yelled at you about abstinence." He blushed again.
"My dad couldn’t stop laughing after that."
"Well it was pretty funny. Speaking of which how is your dad?"
"Well why don’t you ask him yourself. He is over near the bar."
I turned m head and sure enough there he was. Vincent Hunter. He was the sweetest man I had ever meet, well besides Jacobs anyway. I mean he was powerful and looks quite intimidating but when you talked to him he was so nice. I smiled.
"I’m going to go say hi."
"He would love that."
"Are you not going to come?"
"No I have to make the rounds."
"Good luck."
"Thanks."
I began to walk towards Vincent.
"Hey Sadie." I turned back. "Save me a dance." I smiled.
"Sure."

I turned back around and make my way to Vincent. He is a spitting image of Maddox, same black hair, green eyes; same build the only difference is Vincent has more mature face. I walk up to his ear.

"Long time no see." I whispered. He spun around and his face lit up and a big smile spread across his face.
"My, my if it isn’t little Sadie Cleaver." He pulled me into a big hug.
"How are you Mr. Hunter."
"Sadie how many times do I have to tell you call me Vincent."
"Okay, okay, how are you Vincent?"
"I’m great now. How are you my dear?"
"I’m not bad."
"Oh no what’s been getting you down?"
"Nothing, absolutely nothing." I was so not about to tell one of the richest guys in the world about my love life troubles.
"I suppose Maddox coming back must have been quite a shock for you."
"Yeah, to the lest."
"I always told him he was an idiot for letting you go."
"Yeah but I wasn’t exactly in a good place."
"Yeah I know." I snapped my head up. WHAT?! He couldn’t have known? Could he?
"Sadie! Sadie!" Reggie called I turned to face him.
"What is it Reggie?"
"I have some really bad news for you." He leaned in, "look over by the door." He whispered. I did as he said and I saw Sonya walking in with Tate on her arm. NO FREAKING WAY! I wanted to scream.
"Who the hell invited her?" I tried to keep my voice low.
"I don’t know. I’m really sorry Sadie."
"Who are you talking about my dear?" Vincent asked.
"No one. Do you want to take a walk outside? In the garden?" I asked. I had to get out of here.
"Sure my dear." He placed his arm out and I thread mine through his.
"Watch her for me Reggie." I whispered.
"Don’t worry I got it covered. I’m in full bond mode." I smiled.
"Thanks."

We walked through all the people, saying polite hello’s before we made it to the garden. It was all lit up. There were lights that hung from the trees and lanterns. There were candles and rose petals that lined the paths. There were a few other couples as well. We walked down the stairs and began to slowly follow the winding path.

"Who were you talking about back there?" Vincent asked snapping me back to reality.
"Oh ah just a not so nice girl."
"Oh? How so?"
"Well where do I begin…she’s rude, snobby, stubborn, she is trying to get me kicked out of my place, she is tearing me and my best friend apart and she ruined my dress that I spent one month working on. But luckily my friends and I were able to re make it."
"Oh Sadie. Do you want me to kick her out because I have that authority you know." I smiled.
"No she is my problem. I’ll deal with it."
"Well if it makes you feel any better you look absolutely stunning and I am honored to have you by my side."
"That does make me feel better." Suddenly what he said before jumped into my head. "What did you mean about you know?"
"What?"
"When I said I was going through a rough time you said you know? What did mean?"
"Sadie I’m not going to lie to you. I found out about your loss."
"How?"
"I can’t say Sadie." I decided to let that slip.
"Why didn’t you tell Maddox?"
"Because Sadie it’s not my secret to tell."
"Oh. I should have told him…but I just…couldn’t."
"What you went through Sadie must have been unbearable and especially at such a young age. Maddox will understand."
"I hope so."
"Come on. Lets get back to the party. I’m sure my son is just dying to dance with you." I gave him a small smile. "Cheer up my dear, the night is young and so are you. Be happy."

I nodded my head and we turned around and went back towards the party, in silence. It was a beautiful night.

"One more thing."
"Yes my dear?"
"How did Maddox get this place?"
"You still haven’t figured it out yet?"
"No, all I know is that the guy who owns it name is retnuh." He chuckled and leaned in towards my ear.
"Spell Hunter backwards." He kissed my cheek and went inside.
"How could I not have seen that?" I muttered to myself.

I shook my head and walked inside. As soon as I was Reggie, Corrine and Ingrid came up to me.
"What is it?" I asked.
"Sonya is trying to…ah…well…"
"What?"
"Seduce Maddox."
"What?" I almost yelled. I had nothing but anger flowing out of me. "First she comes into my home and insults me, then she takes Tate, ruins my dress and now she thinks she can come onto my territory and try and take Maddox. No way, he is mine. This bitch is going down." I grabbed Reggie’s martini and drank it all in one go. I handed the glass back to him and walked over to where Maddox and a bunch of other people were standing.

Sonya was leaning into Maddox and occasionally grabbing his hand, he of course would always, subtly push her off. I smiled internally at that. I walked over and slipped in next to Maddox. I knew all the people who he was talking to so it gave me an advantage.

"Hey Jerry, Mona, Lisa and Frank. How are you guys?"
"Oh Sadie! It’s been so long since we talked to you. How have you been my dear?" Frank said. They were all around forty and very much liked me.
"Good, good. I see you met Sonya." I looked at all their faces and they each cringed at her name. Oh I should just say that they hate suck ups and Sonya well she is queen at kissing ass. I should also mention that they are like the hierarchy or the social ladder so if they dislike you well then you fucked, to say the lest.
"Yeah." They muttered. I looked at Sonya who was glaring at me.
"Maddox would you like to dance?" She asked. I wanted to slap her right then and there.
"Sweetie, you shouldn’t ask people who are not in your cabala to dance." Mona said. I bit my lip, trying not to smile.
"Sadie you have always been good at dancing, why don’t you show Maddox what you’re made of?" Lisa said encouraging.
"You know what that sounds like a good idea."
"Her? I’m not allowed to dance with him but she is?" Sonya almost yelled at them. BAD IDEA!
"Excuse me young lady but from what we can see you do not own one ounce of intelligence or even enough status for us to waste our time on let alone young Mr. Hunter’s here so if I were you I would find a corner and sit in it!"

Sonya turned and glared at me. I shrugged my shoulders and gave her a fake smile.
"Come on Maddox lets dance."
He raised his eyebrows at me and then nodded his head. I grabbed his hand and pulled him towards the dance floor. It was so weird how much electricity was pumping throw me at that moment just by the simple touch of his hand. I put my hand on his shoulder and he placed his hand on my hip and the other hand was holding mine. We began to sway from side to side. I looked up at him but he was smiling or showing any emotion.

"Are you okay?" I whispered.
"Why wouldn’t I be? Your only using me to make your ex jealous."
"What?" I asked confused.
"Sadie don’t play dumb with me. I saw Tate by the bar okay."
"No Maddox you have it all wrong."
"Do I?" He said sarcastically.
"Yes you do. I’m not using you to make him jealous. As a matter of fact I’m not using you at all. I just saw her there attempting to seduce you and I just couldn’t watch it," I was glaring at her now, "she needed to know that you were mine and-" I cut myself off. I can’t believe I just admitted that. I stopped swaying with him and slowly looked up. His eyebrows were raised and I could see that he was trying to keep from smiling.
"I didn’t mean it in that way."
"Yeah of course not. You were just jealous that’s all."
"I was not jealous."
"Yeah you were.
"No."
"Yes."
"No."
"Yes."
"Are we really going to start this again because last time I checked I always won."
"Oh please. I was the one who always won."
"No way."
"Yes way."
"No way."
"Yes way."
"No way x infinity!"
"Last time I checked rules says you can’t use infinity."
"Liar."
"I do not lie young lady for I am a gentlemen."
"Yeah keep dreaming playboy." We both burst out in laughter. I loved how he made me feel like a little kid.
"You know what would really show her that I’m yours."
I looked over at her. She was glaring at me.
"Oh yeah what’s that?" I was still looking at her.

Suddenly I felt a warm hand turn my cheek and his lips, pressed to mine. I almost gasped. I couldn’t even describe the feeling that coursed through me. His warm soft lips felt like they were melting into mine, his tongue slowly entered mine and I couldn’t hear anything or see anything. All that mattered was the kiss that I was now experiencing, the kiss that I longed for, for four years, the kiss that could make all my problems disappear. I was experiencing it and nothing could break that. I could even feel our heart beats moving as one. Slowly and unwillingly Maddox pulled back. I looked into those green eyes and saw longing, love, hope, sadness and just about every other emotion. He leaned his forehead on mine. There was a sudden eruption in the crowd. Everyone was clapping. It brought me back to reality. I started to blush a deep red. I pulled my hands to my face and leaned against Maddox’s chest. I could feel him laughing. I was laughing to.

"I want to show you something." He whispered. I nodded my head.
He grabbed my hand and led me past all of the people. Some had smiles on their faces others were glaring but at that moment I didn’t care because I had him. We were out in the lobby and about to escape the doors. When I felt someone grab my dress. The sleeve ripped off it and I had to grab it before it fell. I spun around and saw Sonya.

"What the hell Sonya!"
"You honestly think you can just stomp all over me with any consequences, well your seriously mistaken." Maddox stepped in front of me and I saw a flash of his anger.
"Take one more step and you will be finished in this town and once your finished here now one will want you." I could here the venom in his voice.
"I’m not the one who is about to make the biggest mistake of his life."
"I swear to god Sonya say one more thing and I will punch you so hard."
"Sonya enough. Lets go." Tate said. I didn’t even realize him there.
"I would like to see you try."
"That’s enough. You are to leave here and if I ever see your face again or hear that you have even said one bad thing about Sadie well you will find out."
"I don’t know how you can love someone who doesn’t even tell you about their baby." I froze. NO! NO! NO!
"What?" Maddox said.
"Oh she didn’t tell you? Oops. My bad." Sonya said with a fake smile plastered on her face. I looked at Tate who was looking at me with so much sadness. HE TOLD HER! I CAN’T BELIEVE HE TOLD HER! I noticed Vincent and Reggie behind them. I slowly looked up at Maddox. He was looking at me with anger and confusion written on his face.
"Tell me it isn’t true Sadie," I didn’t say anything, "TELL ME!" He yelled. I flinched.
"I was going to tell you-"
"Oh my god! I have to get out of here." He turned and almost ran out of the place. I ran after him.
"Maddox wait please just wait." I grabbed his arm.
"WHY SADIE! Are you just going to tell me more lies?"
"Maddox please." The tears were streaming from my eyes.
"What happened Sadie?"
"When I was nineteen I was pregnant with your baby. I was going tell you but I couldn’t find the right time, you were doing so well in school and I couldn’t ruin that for you. I was just…waiting for the right time but it was too late, I miscarried. That was why I shut off from you. Why I shut off from everyone," I tried to grab his arm but he pushed away from me, he began to walk away, "Maddox I was young and scared and I had just lost a baby. I didn’t know what to do," I grabbed his arm again. He didn’t push away but he wasn’t looking at me. I put my hands to his face forcing him to look at me, "Please forgive me. Please Maddox. Please? Please?" I was practically begging him. Endless tears were falling. He brought his hands to my wrist and pulled them away.
"I wish I could, but your not worth it. You are not worth my love or my heart." I felt my heart shatter again.
"You don’t mean that. Tell me you don’t mean that! Please!"
"Stay away from me Sadie. Stay far away!" He turned and got into his car and once again I saw him leave me. I fell to the ground. I brought my hands to my face. I was crying so hard, harder then I ever have. Those words were like a knife to my heart. I felt like I was dying. I felt two strong arms pick me up. I looked up and saw it was Vincent. I clung to him.

"Sshh. Its okay Sadie. I got you. Reggie, take her home. I have some business to attend to."
"Yes sir."
I felt Vincent try and give me to Reggie but I didn’t let go.
"Now, now Sadie you have to let go now. Reggie is going to take very good care of you. I will check on you later I promise."
I unwillingly let go of him and went into Reggie’s arms. I was still crying, harder than ever.
"Is she okay?" I heard Ingrid ask.
"She will be." Reggie replied.
"I am going to kill her! I am going to feed her stupid peanut brain to the pigs!" Corrine yelled.
"Lets just focus on getting Sadie home." Reggie replied. I could hear the anger in his voice and I could tell that he wanted to hurt her as well. All I could think about though was Maddox. I needed him. I knew right then that I loved him more than ever. He has to come around. If he leaves again I might not get up. Well I know I won’t get up. I could feel nothing but sadness. The tears were still flowing endlessly and I felt so broken. Is this the end of me? I hope that Maddox will come to his senses. I need him. I need him. I need him.
