Devilishly Delectable Chapter 5
Hey guys so so so so so so unbelievably sorry it took so long but I am reaching the height of assessment for school. Anyway here it is......Half is in Maddox's pov and the other half is in Sadie's.....enjoy!!!!
((Maddox))
The phone started to play my favorite tune, New York I Love You by LCD Sound system. It was Sadie’s favorite song. I sighed…Sadie. If only she knew just how much I missed her and how much I loved her. I know I shouldn’t have left her, especially when she looked so broken but it was apparently the right thing to do. It killed me leaving her, seeing her break and collapse onto the floor when I told her. I took every ounce of strength I had not to pick her up and tell her the truth…that I was told to leave. If only she knew who told me, but I know I could never tell her that. She would hate that person forever.
I couldn’t help but remember what she told me in the elevator after I said I loved her. She said it was not enough and I guess after what I put her through that I deserved it but I needed her. Being without her was like a constant stab in my heart. Every girl I dated or even just slept with were nothing compared to Sadie, they were there to just help me get over her but it didn’t really work. I know I shouldn’t use women but all they used me for was publicity and money. Sadie was so different though. She didn’t even know who I was or my dad was when I first met her. I couldn’t help but remember the day I first met her.
(flashback)
I saw her push her way through the crowd of girls that were circling my buddies, and me to get to the booth opposite the table from us. I glanced at her for a second and wondered why she hadn’t bothered to look at me or attract my attention. I wasn’t used to that. She wore a plain white shirt and jeans with black chucks. Her long brown hair was out and shaped her perfect face. She was so plain and ordinary but at the same time she was intriguing, mysterious and looked as though she was hiding something. She ordered a strawberry milkshake and just sat there alone and looked absolutely happy about it. I rolled my eyes at the girls in front of me who were doing everything they can to capture my attention, even exposing most of their cleavage. I got up and pushed my way past them to this mysterious girl at the booth.
"Hi." I said. She glanced up under her long lashes and she the biggest look of confusion mixed with a little blush. She looked so innocent and cute.
"Um…hi." She almost whispered.
"Can I join you?"
"Why?"
"Because you seem lonely over here and I just thought you would like the company." She shrugged.
"I don’t mind being alone."
"Oh?" I said sitting down across from her.
"Well its better than making irrelevant, small talk with some stranger." It was then I saw the feistiness in her and I liked it but it also proved that I was right. She was hiding something. I chuckled.
"I’m Maddox. Maddox Hunter." I waited for her to move closer or at least acknowledge who I was but nothing, not even a smile.
"That’s great." She didn’t even look up at me.
"Are you going to tell me your name?"
"No."
"Why not?" I asked confused. This never happened to me before.
"Because you could be a mass murder for all I know."
"You honestly don’t know who I am do you?"
"Should I?" She retorted.
"No but please all I want is a name." She sighed and looked up.
"How old are you?" She asked.
"What?"
"Well I will only give you my name if I know that you aren’t some type of perv, so how old are you?"
"I’m fifteen turning sixteen in a month."
"Really. You don’t look fifteen."
"Yeah well you actually look like someone with a name so if you don’t mind telling me what it is…"
"Sadie. Sadie Cleaver."
She then grabbed her bag from under the table, got up and walked off.
It was that moment that I knew I had fallen for her.
The phone began to ring again and snapped me out of my reminiscence. I flicked it open and hit the green button.
"Yeah?" I pretty much sighed.
"Sir, the girl you asked us to find…well…we found her."
"What took you guys so long. I gave you the directions to her house."
"She wasn’t at the house. Um…sir you should get down here right now."
I quickly wrote down the address and snapped the phone shut. I was on the verge of hyperventilation. If anything happened to her I swear to god I will never forgive myself. I ran out of my hotel room that I was staying in for the night. I pressed the elevator button and almost instantly was I greeted by open doors. I looked at my watch and it said it was 2 am. Where could she be? How is she doing? Has anything happened? Has anyone hurt her? That last question made a surge of anger rush through me. If anyone touched her in anyway I would crush him or her. The doors opened and I walked into the foyer then towards my car with my very trusty butler, Jacobs. I would be nothing without him.
"Why the urgent ride sir?" Jacobs asked.
"Sadie." It was all I said and all I had to say. He knew Sadie well and loved her like a daughter. He understood instantly and got into the drivers seat. He had nothing but concern written over his face.
We eventually got to the address and when we pulled up, I looked out my window. It was the address of an old pub. It looked run down. Sadie couldn’t have possibly come here. Would she? I got out quickly and saw my two men standing near the door. I hurried to them.
"Where is she?" I asked.
"She is in there sir and she isn’t looking to good."
"Is she hurt?"
"No sir but by the looks of it, well she probably won’t want to wake up in the morning."
Oh she didn’t, was all I thought. I opened the door and walked into the bar. It was small but had character to it. There was a small stage next to the door with a piano and booths lining the walls. There was of course a bar and a pool table. I looked at the back corner and saw there were some men, around seventy and eighty sitting on couches and one girl lying across one. I was about to go to her when a man suddenly walked in front of me.
"You must be Maddox right?" His voice was husky and he was looking me up and down, sizing me up. He was an older man, around my height with a little bit of a bigger build.
"Yes." I said in annoyance. I had to get to my girl. I tried to step around him but he put out a hand.
"Just a second there boy."
"What?" I said angrily. His features turned into an angry and intimidating look.
"Do you see that girl over there? She is something special, there are not many girls like her left in this world-"
"Whats your point?" I asked cutting him off. He stepped closer to me.
"My point is, if she ever comes in here again crying because of you I will hunt you down and kick your ass got it?"
I sighed. "Hurting her is the last thing I want to do. Please just…just let me get her home safe. I need her to be safe right now. I need her to be in my arms." I almost begged him. He stepped back and nodded his head. I walked around him towards the gentlemen and Sadie.
"Evening gentlemen." I said politely. "You wouldn’t mind if I take this gorgeous girl away from you would I." I said referring to the passed out Sadie.
"Not at all young man."
"You must be Tate right?" I suppressed the anger that arised with that name.
"No sir, I’m Maddox."
"Oh so you’re the bastard who hurt our poor girl." A man with a deep voice said. I was surprised that they were so protective of Sadie yet they didn’t even know her but I guess that was my Sadie.
"Please sir I just want to get her home." I looked down at her and at that moment I wanted to hold her so tightly. She was my everything.
"You still love her don’t you son?" Another man said.
"More than anything in this world. Now please let me take her."
"On one condition."
"Whats that?"
"You bring her back here. She reminds us so much of our daughters and well she makes us old people feel young again."
"Deal."
I slowly walked around them to Sadie. I brushed my hand against her cheek and leaned my lips to her ear.
"Sadie." I whispered.
"Mmm." She moaned a little.
"Sadie I’m going to take you home now okay." She nodded her head slightly and I smiled. I scoped her up and into my arms. Perfect fit, I always thought. I could feel her warm breath on my neck. Her arms wrapped around my neck and she pulled her self closer.
"Don’t let go of her this time." The man who called me the bastard said.
"Never." I replied then walked out the door with Sadie in my arms. I passed Jacobs who smiled at the sight of her. It has been a while since he saw her. I guess he missed her as much as I did. I slid into the car with Sadie on my lap. I realized then that she was cold. I had to get her home.
After five minutes and few broken traffic laws we made it to my apartment. Well it was actually the penthouse, which was two stories high and had the best view of the city. We got in the elevator and went straight up. Sadie occasionally stirred. When we got there I walked straight into my bedroom and laid her on my pretty huge white bed. It had thick covers that I knew would soon warm her up. She was still in her dress.
"Sadie." I whispered. Nothing. "Sadie?" I whispered again.
"Yeah." She moaned.
"I have to change your clothes. Is that okay?" She nodded her head slightly.
"Jacobs?" I called.
"Yes sir?"
"Can you grab me a t-shirt and boxers please?"
"Certainly sir."
A few minutes later he came back with my grey rolling stones t-shirt that I had ever since I was seventeen. Sadie always wore it when she stayed over my house. It was always to big for her but she always looked beautiful, especially with nothing else on.
I unzipped the back of her dress and pulled it over her head. I quickly put my t-shirt on her and my blue silk boxers. I pulled the covers off and slid her cold body underneath them. I pulled the thick blankets up near her chin and pulled her hair tie out letting her hair fall the to side of her. She looked peaceful. I wanted to so much to get into bed next to her but I knew that when she would wake in the morning she would not be happy. I sighed.
"I will win you over Sadie Cleaver. If it’s the last thing I do." I whispered into her ear. I kissed her forehead and walked out of the room.
(((Sadie)))
I woke to the sound of birds chirping. I groaned when the sudden realisation that I was having a massive hangover. I felt sick, tired and my head was killing me. I slowly sat up and rubbed my eyes then I suddenly stopped. I looked around and noticed that this wasn’t my bed, or my room, or my apartment. Oh god I hope I’m still in the same country. I thought dryly. I closed my eyes and tried to remember the events of last night.
I remember the party. I danced with Maddox, oh god he felt so good, and then once again I ran away from him. I remember the elevator ride, there was screaming and yelling and then he said he…loved me. OH GOD! THAT’S RIGHT! I internally cringed. Back to the point. I went into the old run down pub and met the owner…Dan, no, deny, no…ah that’s right, Davey. He was a funny guy, oh and I also met Fin, Scooter, Cubes and Snitch, their nicknames of course, oh boy did those guys have stories. If only I could remember what happened…OH MY GOD! Maddox. I remember him picking me up and getting into the car…and he…he must of brought me back here. I am secretly happy that I didn’t go home with some stranger but also very angry because it was Maddox.
My head was pounding and this sudden anger that is igniting me isn’t helping at all. I started to take deep breaths. I slowly got out of the massive bed and stood beside it, making sure I can still keep my balance. I surveyed the room. It was a huge room with stairs that go up to the patio styled floor. I could see his desk with all his work on it. Beneath was a walk in wardrobe that I could just see was lined with suits. The walls were painted a light blue and white, it was all very modern. I walked to the huge sliding doors that went out into the terrace. Instead of having a railing it was just a brown wall circling the entire penthouse no doubt. It had flowers of all types growing out of the top. In front of me was a huge pool and next to it was an even bigger Jacuzzi. It looked like it could fit about fifteen people. There was a slight breeze and I looked down to see that I was wearing different clothes. How the hell did I get into…Oh he so did not strip me. I’m going to kill him!
I stomped my way to the door and swung it open. I walked straight ahead towards the living room. The rest of the house was pretty much like our loft except bigger and more modern. There was also a staircase that led to the second story. I saw him leaning against the wall near the terrace. His back to me and as a matter of fact he didn’t have a shirt on. Oh this is going to make it so much worse. Snap out of it Sadie! I mentally screamed. I walked straight out to him.
"Who do you think you are?! You can’t just strip peoples clothes off like that!"
He turned around and I almost gasped. His body was more beautiful in person than it was on TV. He had the best abs in the world and his arms were so…SNAP OUT OF IT!
"Well if I remember correctly you are the one who nodded when I asked if I undress you and…yes it is very nice to see you to Sadie."
"Don’t play cute with me Maddox. You had no right to do that."
"Calm down Sadie its not like anything happened."
"That’s not the point." He rolled his eyes.
"So dramatic, always so dramatic."
"I am not dramatic."
"Please, you over exaggerate everything Sadie."
"Yeah well…next time your drunk and passed out I will undress you and see how you like it." That so did not come out right. A sly smile crossed his face and he walked over to me, he was so close, about an inch from touching my body. I could feel his warmth. It felt so good.
"I wouldn’t mind that one bit." He bent down to kiss me. I didn’t’ move, just as I was about to feel his lips touch mine he whispered, "but you really need to take a shower because you stink." He chuckled and walked quickly inside, before I had the chance to kill him.
ARRGH! He is so irritating but he was right, I did stink pretty badly. I walked back into the bedroom and saw a blue and black stripped see through blouse with a black singlet underneath, dark blue skinny jeans and a pair of black ballet flats . I wonder who put them on the bed…ah…Jacobs popped into my mind. It has been so long since I have seen him. He was like my father, my actual father left when I was younger so I never really had a father figure until Jacobs. I wonder where he is? I guess I will see him later. I do really need a shower.
I looked around and saw a hallway curve around behind the bed. I grabbed the clothes and walked around. I came face to face with the biggest bathroom I had seen. There was a huge bathtub at the very end of the bathroom, with a view of the city, (luckily the glass walls had the type of glass where you could only see out of). There were two sinks, his and her I guess, well someone like Maddox would need something like that, I sighed. Then there was a shower in the corner that looked big enough to fit twelve people. It was different then the rest of the house though, it had an orange and red color and it made the room feel warm.
I quickly stripped of my clothes and got into the shower. The water was so nice and I felt myself feeling refreshed. I was so happy it was a Saturday and I didn't have to go into work. Saturday's were my days off. Twenty minutes later I got out feeling clean and smelling of flowers. I smiled and got dressed as quickly as possible.
The clothes fit me perfectly and the shoes as well. I dried my hair the towel and left it out.
I walked out of the bathroom towards the bedroom door but stopped when I heard voices coming from outside the door. I pressed my ear against the door.
"You have to tell her about this."
"I can’t."
"You must, do you honestly want her to find out about it some other way, sir." Oh it was Jacobs. As much as I wanted to know what they were talking about I had to see Jacobs. I swung the door open and ran up to him, and threw my arms around his neck. At first I think he was shocked because he didn’t hug me back but he wrapped his arms tightly around me. He chuckled.
"Well it’s good to see you to, Ms. Sadie."
"I missed you so much Jacobs."
"Me too, Ms. Sadie. Me too."
He pulled back from our hug and gave me the biggest smile. He looked at Maddox then at me again.
"I think I will leave you two to talk."
He kissed my forehead then left the room. I turned to face Maddox.
"So?" I asked.
"So." He said back. I rolled my eyes.
"What is it that I have to know." He stiffened.
"You were eaves dropping?"
"Well yeah, and besides it WAS about me anyway."
"No it…just forget about it okay."
"No."
"Yes."
"No!" I was getting angry now.
"Sadie." He sighed. I took a few steps closer to him so I could see his face. I was about two inches from his body.
"Please Maddox, tell me." I gave him my puppy dog face.
"On one condition."
"Anything."
"You are not allowed to freak out." He stuck out his hand. I rolled my eyes and shook it.
"Deal."
"Okay." He sighed.
He handed me a gossip magazine from the couch behind him. I gave him a confused look but grabbed it. I looked down and…
"OH MY GOD! NO! NO! NO!" I screamed.
"What did I say about freaking out Sadie."
"This cannot be happening Maddox! How did they find out?!"
"Their journalists Sadie, its their job to find out the truth."
I looked at the cover, on it was Maddox and I, dancing at the party last night. Next to it was him carrying me out of the pub and below that was a picture of him and I at prom. The headline wrote, ‘Long lost lovers re-unite…or have they’. I almost screamed. I flicked through the pages of the magazine until I got to the article.
It said...
‘You may recognize the devilishly handsome man in the picture, Maddox Hunter, but who is the other women you may ask. Well rumor has it, it is his old girlfriend from high school that he dumped. Apparently she is working as the head of the fashion department for Devilishly Delectable, Mr.Hunter’s Is currently the CEO and editor of the magazine. Coincidence I think not. I wonder if this girl knows just how much trouble she is getting herself into? Or maybe she is not in it for love, anyone heard of the word gold digger? Well I guess we will wait and see won’ t we, but it looks to me that this flame will burn out quickly.’
"OH MY GOD!"
"Sadie calm down, its just a magazine article it means nothing."
"Nothing? NOTHING!? They called me a gold digger Maddox. I can’t believe this. You have been here two days and you have already screwed up my entire life."
"Sadie please I’m sorry I didn’t-"
"Just stay away from me Maddox. Stay far away."
I turned and ran towards the door. I swung it open and pressed the elevator. The penthouse had a special elevator separated from the others so I luckily made a quick getaway. I leaned against the back of the elevator and then it hit me. Tate. Oh god TATE! He is going to hate me forever. I have to get home to him. The doors flung open. I walked out of the elevator towards the door when suddenly there was a big rush of people with camera’s and microphones being shoved in my face.
"Sadie over here, tell us did you sleep with Maddox?...What no-…How did you feel when you found out he was back?...I don’t kn-...Will you two get married now?...No I-…What do you think about the other women?...I don’t-…Why did you guys break up in the first place?...We-…Did he cheat on you?..No I-…"
"Why don’t you all leave the young lady alone!" I heard Jacobs yell from behind me. He wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me towards the elevator. He pressed the button for the underground car park. I was taking deep breaths, trying to stop myself from hyperventilating.
"Ms. Sadie? Ms. Sadie are you okay?" Jacobs asked me concerned.
"Just take me home please."
I closed my eyes, wanting all of this to be over.
