Devilishly Delectable Chapter 11
I woke to Reggie nudging me.
"What?" I whined.
"Come on Sadie you have to get up. It’s time to go to work."
"Can’t I stay here and hide forever?"
"No."
"Why?" I whined again.
"Because you have to face it Sadie. Hiding out here won’t make the problem disappear, you know this."
"What am I supposed to do Reggie?"
"Well first we can get up and go to work."
"Yeah, at least fashion is the only thing in my life that I can count on."
"Great, I will go and grab your clothes."

I followed Reggie into the room and he almost instantly through me some clothes. He gave me a navy colored jacket with white lining, plain white singlet, dark blue jeans and a pair of black and white pumps. I unwillingly walked into the bathroom and got dressed. I am not in the mood for putting on make up and doing my hair so I just pulled my hair back in a pony tail and decided to go natural and besides there is a ninety-nine point nine percent chance that I might cry today. Instead of leaving the room I just looked at myself in the mirror. I used to think of myself as a strong independent women but here I am having to chose which guy I want to be with because it physically hurts me to be away from both of them. They may not know it but they have helped me grow in ways I didn’t even know. I know I should be all for standing on my own two feet but for me its difficult, I felt what its like to be alone, my whole life and I don’t want that anymore.

I have to pick someone, by today or I will leave. I can’t string them along, because I know its wrong, regardless of the fact that I haven’t decided. I sighed and walked out of the room. I went to the lounge where I found Reggie waiting for me with my purse in his hand.
"You ready?"
"No." He rolled his eyes.
"Sadie everything will be okay. I promise and if it isn’t I will be here. As always."
"I love you so much Reggie. You’re the greatest friend I have ever had."
"Aw sweetie, your going to make me cry. I love you too."
I smiled a little and hugged him so closely.
"We better get going, don’t want to be late."
I just gave him a small smile and we walked out the door towards work.

We got into the elevator, first for once then followed by a bunch of other people. Then I saw a man with black hair and bright blue eyes step into the now crowed elevator. My breath caught and I turned and looked at Reggie who now grabbed my hand and squeezed. I can not see Maddox, not now. I pushed my back against the wall and slid down a little bit so that I could just see the top of his head and then I realized…I’m trapped. How the hell am I going to get out of this one, my level is before his and people were starting to get out. I closed my eyes. A few more people got out of the elevator and I knew that there were only a few people in the elevator.

"You can open your eyes now Sadie, he’s gone."
My eyes flicked open. "What?"
"He just got out, the journalism floor."
I started to breath again. I wasn’t even aware I was holding my breath. The doors opened at our floor and I ran out of there. Instead of going to the office though I turned into the ‘’closet" which I said before is the majority of the floor, filled with endless clothes. The other "closet" is filled with shoes. I chose the clothes one. There were a few people in there, sorting, grabbing and putting back clothes that will be used for the up coming months edition. I hurried to the back of the closet where most of the old clothes (around two months) were. I leaned against the wall facing the hall way, Reggie came to stand in front of me.

"I just need a minute okay…just one minute."
"Sure Sadie, its fine."
The people who were in here were basically gone and we could hear them near the office. I closed my eyes and took deep breaths.
"Oh Mr Hunter, what can I do for you?" I heard a young girls voice say. My eyes flicked open and for a brief second I thought he was in the room but I realized he was near the office. The walls hear were as thin as paper.
"Have you seen Sad-Ms Cleaver?"
"Oh…I think I saw her go into the closet." She replied. NO! I have to remind myself to fire her! (Okay just kidding) I dived behind the rack and crouched down. I could see Maddox’s feet walking towards Reggie. He looked down at me one last time then quickly looked up.
"Reggie have you seen Sadie?"
"Um…no, Ma-Sir, I haven’t." He was motioning his hand, which was behind his back, to go around the rack.

"You are a terrible liar Reggie."
"Honestly sir, I have no idea where she is."
I slowly started to crawl around the corner of the rack. I slowly poked my head out from the opposite side and saw Maddox standing there, looking as handsome as ever. I had to grab the carpet to stop myself from jumping out and hugging him.
I suddenly saw Reggie’s hands grab his shoulders and he pulled him into a tight hug. He was motioning his hand for me to head towards the door. I started to crawl down the hallway, opposite both men.
"Oh sir, I just wanted to say how sorry I am that Sadie isn’t here. I…I think you two would be so perfect together." He started to fake cry. I have to give him an A for performance. But I didn’t know whether he meant what he just said or whether it was apart of his performance.
"Reggie…get off me."

"Oh right." He pulled back. Maddox began to turn just as I was about to get to the door when Reggie suddenly pulls him around and kisses him. I stood there shocked for a minute but realize why he is doing it and leave. Just as Maddox pushes him off.
"What the fuck Reggie?" I heard Maddox yell. I giggle a little as I run to the elevator. I guess I am going to owe Reggie big time for that one. Luckily the elevator is already there and I step inside. I push the button for the roof. The doors are just about to close when I look up and see Maddox.
"Sadie!" He yells.
The doors begin to close and he is running towards me, luckily he just missed it. I was on the verge of hyperventilation. The doors open for the rooftop and I run out of the elevators towards a door. I push it open, run up the flight of stairs and push open the other door. I feel the wind slam into me and I run out onto the roof top. The building is one of the highest and over looks the city. I walk over to the railing and lean against it, my back facing the door. I look down at the city, all those people running around, they looked like ants from up here.

"Sadie." I heard a voice call from behind me. I didn’t have to turn around to know who it was. "Sadie please say something." He pleaded.
I felt so confused and a little light headed. I think it might be from being up so high. I slowly turned around and revealed my now tear stained face.
"Sadie please tell me what I did wrong. Did I move too quickly for you? Is that why you have been avoiding me and not coming home last night?"
"No Maddox, it wasn’t you."
"Then why?"
"Because I-I…I’m confused." I blurted out.
"Confused about what? Us?" He was begging for an answer. One that I didn’t even know existed yet.

"No....well yes…I don’t know." I sighed. I brought my hands to my face.
"Don’t try and spare my feelings Sadie, if you don’t want to be with me then tell me but don’t lie to me." There was few minutes’ silence.
"Tate." I said quietly and by the looks of it was all I need to say.
"You slept with Tate?" It looked like he could barely breathe.
"No! No! I didn’t sleep with him."
"Then why-"
"Because I think I’m in love with him." I blurted it out, quickly I might add.
He looked at me for so long that it felt like hours. There was no expression on his face but I knew him well enough to know that he was hurt.
"Oh." Was all he said.
"Maddox I-"
"I’ll be leaving then." He turned around and began to walk towards the door. What the scary part was I didn’t even try and stop him. It was like it was in slow motion though. Every step he took was a pain in my heart. It was like I was being stabbed over and over again, with ever small step. Until I was alone.

I stood there for who knows how long until I walked through the door towards the elevator. I pressed the down button and once the elevator reached me I hit the button to my floor. Once there I raced to see Reggie in the office. I grabbed his arm and began to pull him towards the elevator.
"Sadie?" He asked cautiously, "Sadie where are we going?"
"Home. I can’t be here anymore, I need to go home."
We got into the elevator and Reggie pulled me into him. I began to cry into his chest.

We caught a cab back to his apartment where I laid on the couch once again while he held me in his lap.
"Now I see why you like Maddox so much, he's a good kisser." I giggled a little. I could just picture Maddox's face. Reggie always knew how to cheer me up. Around half an hour later Corrine and Ingrid walk in.
"Hey baby how are you doing?" Ingrid asked.
"I’m fine." I said quietly. I had stopped crying but I wasn’t in the mood to chat.
"You know what I am in the mood for some pizza and chocolate. What do you think Sadie?" Reggie asked.
"That sounds great." I tried to say enthusiastically but failed miserably.
"All right well I will go and get it and Ingrid and Corrine will stay here with you." Reggie said, then he leaned in towards my ear, "I’ll be back soon, I promise." He kissed my forehead then walked out the door. It was funny how the only guy I could really and truly rely on was Reggie. If he wasn’t gay I would totally marry him.

We sat there for ten minutes in complete silence. Which I was absolutely grateful for (these girls knew me well). Then it hit me. Every happy memory I have ever had. Every time he has made me laugh and feel so good. Every touch of his made me feel safe and secure. How the sound of his laugh would make me smile. The way he was gently caress my cheek. How he knew me backwards and forwards. This is the guy I want to be with for the rest of my life. The one and only guy I will every love.
I stood up as quickly as possible and got a slight head rush. I made my way to the door.

"Sadie where are you going?" Corrine asked.
"When Reggie gets back tell him I’m sorry and that…I have made my choice." And with that I ran out of there as quickly as possible towards my one and only.

**********
I got out of the cab quickly and headed towards the door. I opened it and walked in.
"Oh Ms. Cleaver how are you?"
"I’m great Pete thanks. Um…is Tate up there by any chance?"
"Yes, he still hasn’t come down Ms Cleaver."
"Thanks Pete."

I got into the elevator and pressed the button for our floor. I walked out and headed towards the door. This is the right choice, I kept on repeating over and over. I knocked on the door, when I didn’t hear anything I grabbed the handle and it was open. I pulled it open and saw Tate standing in the middle of the room. He was wearing his pyjama pants and no shirt. Guess he had a late night.

"Sadie?" He barely whispered. A small smile spread across his face. I walked towards him.
"Hi." I whispered.
"You’ve made your choice then." He lifted his hand and it touched my cheek.
I looked to the ground. This was going to be harder than I thought.
"Yes." I said, "Tate I’m…I’m so sorry."
His face suddenly went blank and he dropped his hand quickly. His blank face had now had complete anger written all over it.
"Your going back to him!" He basically screamed.
"Tate I…we can still be-"
"Don’t say the word friends Sadie or I swear to god I will loose it."
"Tate I love you…like a brother, a best friend."
"How can you say that after what we felt."
"Tate that was lust, it wasn’t love."
"Don’t say that."

"I want to be apart of your life but only as friend. I need you Tate and I always will but I need you to see that we are better off as friends."
"Get out."
"Tate-"
"GET OUT!" He yelled. I flinched. I have never seen him so angry. I felt tears fall from my face. I looked out the window and saw it was raining. Guess the weather fits the mood. I slowly leaned in towards his ear.
"I will love you forever Tate, remember that." Then I kissed his cheek softly.
I turned and walked out the door. I hesitated before I walked out.

I ran out of the building once I was on the ground. It was pouring now.
"TAXI!" I called and almost instantly one stopped. That was lucky. I gave him the directions to Maddox’s apartment and he knew where it was. With in minutes I was there. I was getting soaked as I ran quickly inside and saw that the same guy was on reception again.
"Hey Sadie Cleaver!" He called. "How have you-"
"Can you buzz me up!" I ran to the elevator. I knew it was rude to cut him off but I was kind of in a hurry.
"Yeah sure." The elevator opened and I ran inside pressing the up button. I am so thankful that these elevators are fast. The doors opened with a ping and I ran to Maddox’s door. I knocked a few times when Jacobs opened it.
He didn’t say anything or do anything, he just gave me a small smile and opened the door wide enough for me to enter. I walked inside. Jacobs then leaned in towards me.
"He’s outside." Then he walked out the door closing it behind him. I cautiously walked towards the open doors to the terrace. I could see Maddox, his hands against the barrier, leaning against it.

"Maddox." I said loud enough for him to hear. He slowly turned around to face me. It was raining harder than ever now but I didn’t care I walked over to him until I was inches away from him.
"What are you doing here Sadie?"
"What do you think I am doing here Maddox?"
"Don’t Sadie. Tell me why you are here? Or better tell me why?"
"Why what?"
"Why me? Huh? Why me and not Tate."
"Because I love you."
"And you love Tate."
"No I don’t, I just needed time to see that."
He started to shake his head from side to side.
"And what about tomorrow? Or a month from now? Will you love him then?"

"No Maddox. Listen to me," I grabbed his head with my hands, "I don’t want someone else, and I want you, forever. Nothing can or will change that. I have been with you through thick and thin and each time you have been there for me…well most times anyway. But it doesn’t matter now. The past is past I don’t want to dwell on that, I want to think about the future and I see you in it. I want to do it right this time, no mistakes, nothing to hold us back or to get in the way."
"So are you saying you will move in with me then?" He asked. I rolled my eyes.
"No." His face dropped and he looked hurt, "I want to marry you." Suddenly his face shot up and he had shock written all over his face. "Maddox Hunter I don’t want to waste anymore time. Will you marry me?"
I saw a huge smile appear on his face, bigger than I have ever seen.
"YES!" He yelled. He picked me up and twirled me around. I laughed more than I have ever laughed before. He put me down and kissed me, with such passion that I felt like I was going to faint. He pulled back. "I love you so, so, so much Sadie." I smiled wider than I ever have.
"Come on." I said as I grabbed his hand and led him inside.
"Where are we going?"

I didn’t say anything. I just led him towards the bedroom. I shut the door and twirled around and jumped on him. I pulled his lips to mine with fierceness and hunger. There we spent the night filled with passion and longing but most of all love. I don’t think I can ever get over this.
