There is a growing popularity of detox diets these days, this is because more and more people are realizing how unhealthy some of the food they eat these days is. Researchers have found that we ingest a lot of chemicals everyday in the form of food, water and air. These chemicals then get deposited as fat cells in the body. A body may not even be able to properly detoxify if it isn't getting sufficient nutrients, this is harmful to the body as it leads to a toxic build-up in the body and this is called a body-burden. This can lead to illnesses like that of hormonal imbalance, immunity and nutrition and metabolism problems. Those with toxic build up will have indigestion, bad breath, bad skin, fatigue and even muscular aches and pain. People are fast realizing the benefits of a detox diet. Not only does it make a person feel energized but also helps to regularize bowel movements, improve digestion and helps in concentration. Do you really need more reasons for a detox diet and its popularity?
Though detox diets are popular and have great benefits, they should be done without consulting with a health care professional, doctor or nutritionist. There are some people who shouldn't attempt to go on this diet at all. Pregnant women, children, people with anemia, diabetes, cancer and any other terminal illness shouldn't try it at all. People with genetic disease, chronic conditions, thyroid, and autoimmune disease should also avoid this diet.
There are certain side effects to a detox diet. Some people will experience hunger pangs and headaches, this normally happens because of lack of caffeine. It is highly recommended that a person about to start a detox diet start kicking off the caffeine habit. It is recommended that before going a detox diet, you prep your body for it and take some time off work to get used to it. This is because the body can get dehydrated as well and there are times when a person gets diarrhea or constipation. Always consult with a physician before going on a detox diet, this way you are completely aware of what all is involved in a detox diet.
