Desperate Call

Where have I lost my sleep?
I, no longer need an alarm or a beep.
With no clue, my search is on to find it.
Left is a slight ray of hope to grab it.
To me, day and night make no difference.
Between the two I have no preference.
Wide open are my eyes thro' the day.
To catch the sleep at night, I have lost the way!
What is it that has driven away my sleep?
It is keeping me away from sleeping deep.
Only, if I could lay my hands on the cause?!
I will cure it and make up for my sleep loss.
With whole house asleep, I am wide awake.
Eerie thoughts don't leave me till day break.
Those sleeping hours seem to drag and stretch.
Here am I twisting and turning all over my bed's width.
I await sunrise to jump out of bed.
Dreading the oncoming nights, tears I shed.
Fresh and active I, no longer feel.
Forever am I on the couch sitting over my heel?
These 'record' sleepless nights are sure to get me on cover page!
Bags under my eyes and the dark circles are happily belying my age!
My precious sleep, will you not come to me?
Nights are turning in to nightmares without thee!
My eyes are missing you a great deal.
Please do come and return their zeal!
Are you hearing my desperate call?
Without you, I will very soon become a burden to all!
