Dennis Quaid & Wife Sue
Actor Dennis Quaid and his wife Kimberly have reportedly filed a lawsuit against the Baxter Healthcare Corporation.

The lawsuit was filed Tuesday in Cooks County, Illinois against the Baxter Healthcare Corporation who makes the anti-coagulant Heparin. The couple’s newborn children Thomas Boone and Zoe Grace were hospitalized after being given an overdose of the drug. The Quaids are seeking $50,000 in damages and claim that the company did not properly label vials of the drug. The 10-units-per-milliliter vial and the 10,000-units-per-millimiter look almost identical.
Susan E. Loggans, the Quaid’s lawyer, "On a negligence scale of one to 10, Baxter Corporation gets a 120. They knew medication errors due to product labeling resulted in death, but failed to recall the drug. Each year there’s 1.5 million medication errors in America – it is a national epidemic." Reportedly three children have died in Indiana following a similar overdose of the drug.
The twins were born on November 8 in Santa Monica via a surrogate mother. Quaid, 53, and his wife of three and a half years Kimberly Buffington, 35, are the children’s biological parents. The twins were reportedly given an accidental overdose of Heparin (1,000 times the recommended dose) on November 18 and were admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on November 20 after they reportedly began to "bleed out." According to the lawsuit, the twins "suffered and will continue to suffer injuries" from the overdose. According to Loggans the twins "were very critical for awhile" and while they are doing much better the Quaids are hoping to prevent this from happening in the future. There has reportedly been no comment from the Baxter Corporation.
