Denise Richards and Richie Sambora Split

Richards’ rep confirmed the split saying, "They broke up two months ago, back in March, but they have remained close friends." Despite their split, Richards was there for Sambora after his father died of lung cancer on April 21. Richards and Sambora attended the funeral together in New Jersey. A friend of Richards’ said, "Denise ended things but wanted to be there for him as a friend."

A friend of Sambora’s describes the split as "amicable" and said, "They did break-up about a month prior to Richie’s dad’s death. She came to the funeral to support him. He needs to focus on his daughter Ava and wishes Denise and her kids all the best." Sources say that Richards called it off because the "timing" wasn’t right. As if the timing of their getting together was right?

Richards and her then husband Charlie Sheen were quite friendly with Sambora and his then wife Heather Locklear for quite some time. Richards and Sheen split after three-years of married in March 2005, while she was six-months pregnant with their second daughter. Sambora and Locklear split in December of 2005 after 11-years. Richards and Sambora allegedly began seeing each other in April 2006 amid rumors that they had begun an affair before their respective marriages were officially over. Both have denied that anything inappropriate happened before it should’ve. Richards has also stated that her friendship with Locklear was over before she started anything romantic with Sambora. Not likely that the two former friends will ever reconcile…although they’d have a lot to talk about…
