The Democrats are Self-Destructing . . . Again

Why does the Democratic Party seem to sabotage its own efforts? It appears that they were going to sweep the mid-term elections. Now, they have re-energized the President and the Republican base.
Whether you are a Republican or Democrat, it's becoming increasingly clear that the Democratic Party is ruining their chances to take back Congress. Just like Terrell Owens, it seems like every time they start to gain some traction, something happens to pull them down.

Why are they failing?
Instead of focusing on the war in Iraq, the leadership of the party has chosen instead to paint a broader picture of a failed war on terror. The only problem is that they have been using water based paint, which allowed President Bush to come in right behind them with a fire hose and wash it away. When they faux paint came off, people realized that the Democratic Party Chairman, Howard Dean; former Presidents, Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton; and other Democratic Party leaders like Nancy Pelosi are saying the same thing as Venezuela dictator, Hugo Chavez, and Al Queda leader Zawahri.

For example, today Zawahri says that Bush's war on terror is a failure. (What do you expect him to say?) This is the same thing that Nancy Pelosi and Howard Dean are saying. President Bush is calling them on it and firing back strong. The underlying problem that the Democratic Party has is that the more the conversation focuses on the war on terror, the more popular the President and the Republican Party become. Make no mistake, the American electorate is furious about the war in Iraq; however, they are much more concerned about winning the war on terror than punishing the President.

Unfortunately, no one in the Democratic Party can articulate how they will win the war on terror. It's great that they can point out the faults of the President, but how does that solve our problem? Anyone can point out faults - just look at all of the Monday morning quarterbacks in America, just ask Terrell Owens.
