Response to the comments - @Lol X I am so glad you're liking the story and sorry to keep you waiting. @Jess yes it got a little poetic I guess. :D Glad to know that you loved the chapter :) @Danielle Thanks :) @Rzzz Hannah is slightly egoistic but I believe she's rather reserved and hides her true feeling. Adam is a big mystery, Perhaps he'll be able to melt her heart :) Thank you all for your comments :)
"If you wanted to go to the fair, you could have asked me to take you." Said Adam with a stern look on his face.

"You were there?" I was curious.

He nodded and said, "I was there and I saw you with him. What's his name? ummm...James...Jesss..."

"It's Jeremy" I said cutting him.

"Yeah, Jeremy. Hmm... I saw you there with this Jeremy, smiling...laughing...basically happy." He said frowning.

"Yes, I was really happy." I said folding my arms not wanting to really talk about it too much.

"I know, it was showing on your face", he pointed his finger at me, "You've a very expressive face Hannah. I can tell what you're thinking just by looking at your face." He said raising his eyebrow.

"If you were there, why didn't you..."

"Came up to you?" he asked interrupting me.

"Mmm hmmm."

"Well, you see I didn't intend to disturb you on your date with Jeremy."

"It was not a date."

"Wasn't it?" he smirked.

"No, it wasn't" I was rather annoyed.

"Okay". He sighed.

We stood there in silence for a while. "You could have asked me, you know. I would have loved to take you there myself. After all, I know this place better than any newbie in the town."

"I didn't ask anyone to take me. He took me there."

"Let's not talk about him", he advanced towards me, "I am glad that everything is fine between us now."

"Me too" I smiled.

"And that’s my Mom and Dad." I said pointing at the picture. Adam saw the photo album lying on the table. He asked me if he could see it and I agreed. We both at on the sofa, I placed the album on my lap and opened it, telling him about the people in the photos.

"They are my friends…and that’s my best friend Rhea". He was looking at the pictures very carefully and suddenly he smiled as if he realized something significant.

"You don’t like getting your photos taken, do you?" he was still looking at the photos and didn’t lift his eyes to look at me.

"What?" I was amazed.

"You don’t like getting your pictures taken. Is that right?"

I hesitated first to answer but then I finally spoke, "yes, I kind of hate it." He smiled again and finally raised his head to look at me.

"But how did you know?" I asked curiously.

"You’re not looking very comfortable in these pictures and all I can see in these photos is your fake smile."

"Huh! I was not faking it, I am actually happy in each of these pics." I said defending myself.

"No Hannah, it’s not your real smile", he finally looked at me, It’s not even close to the way you smile. You know when you smile, your eyes light up. It get sparkling you know. And you get these dimples. It looks very cute. But I can’t see that in the photos."

I never thought he was so observant. I did fake those smiles in the photos. I usually don’t like getting my photos taken and he was the first person to notice it.

"Oh my God! You look so cute as Santa." He said taking the picture out of the album and taking a closer look at it.

"God! You’re not supposed to see it. Damn, how could I forget about this picture." I tried to take the picture back but he held it tightly and was not giving it to me.

"Adam please." I said helplessly.

"I’ve never seen such a sexy Santa in my whole darn life"

"This is so embarrassing." I said covering my face with my hands.

He laughed, "No, it’s not. You’re really looking cute in this. I am serious. I like voluptuous women."

"Yeah I know" I said sarcastically, "you see I volunteered at an orphanage and there was some issue with their Santa so I opted for it. But my mom…she found it rather "adorable" and she took the picture of me dressed as Santa. What girl wants to get pictured as Santa?

"Oh…you’re adorable" he was being sarcastic again.

I got up, "I don’t know why I brought this album here or why I shared it with you." I said annoyingly.

"Listen Santa ugh I mean Hannah that’s okay. It’s not like I am going to show this picture to anyone. And besides, it was a really nice gesture. You brought smile on those kids’ faces and I am sure you wouldn’t hesitate to do it again."

"Well yeah!" I smiled, "but give it back to me" I said grabbing the photo from his hand.

"Thanks for showing me your family album. I feel like I know you a little better now." He smiled.

"You’re my friend and you should know things about me." I smiled back, "Though I am kind of feeling homesick now."

"Oh this is your home too." He said holding my hand.

"Yes, it is. It’s always been a home to me. You know what, when I’ll go from here I’ll miss this place as much as I am missing my home right now."

"We’ll miss you too Hannah." He said tightening the grip at my hand. My heart started beating faster. "But you better come back soon okay? For your aunt, for your friends."

"I’ll try to" I tried to smile.

"I can come and visit you, if you don’t mind?" he asked hesitantly.

"Of course you can. I’d love that." It was really getting awkward.

"I’ll definitely come," He said smilingly, "Ah why we’re talking about it now? Lets’ change the topic."

"Yeah, ummm I should go to the hospital now. Aunt must be done with her therapy."

"Do you want me to come?" he asked me.

"No, that’s okay."

"I’ll see you in the evening then. Do you have any plans?" he asked.

"No, I am free."

"I’ll see you then." He smiled and didn’t move. Neither did I. Few moments passed in silence and desperation. He couldn’t take it anymore and hugged me, tightly. We were both relieved.

"I’ll see you tonight" he said pulling apart.

"See ya" I said. He reached the door and turned back to look at me again and left.

I was unusually happy rest of the day. The sick smell of hospital and the gloominess didn’t bother me. I was smiling at everything.

"Adam is taking me for dinner tonight" I said to aunt who was busy reading in her room.

She closed the book and placed it on the table beside her bed and looked at me inquisitively. "Will you be late?" she finally asked.

"Umm no. I’ll be home on time." I answered nervously.

"He’s a good boy"

"Yes, he is." I said sheepishly.

"Do you like him?"

The question was out of the blue. I never expected she would ask me anything like this.

"Come on Aunt Matilda" I said lifting up my hands in astonishment, "he’s just a friend and nothing else."

"I don’t think he considers you "just a friend."

"Then what else?" I asked sitting beside her.

"I’ve seen it in his eyes, the way he looks at you. You can tell it honey. Your aunt has been in love too." She said mockingly.

"Yes, I remember. You were telling me the story about Uncle that day but Jeremy came in. What happened exactly? Tell me." I was curious. Aunt never talked about uncle before to anyone of us. Even mom and dad never mentioned him but my mom once told me that dad and my grandfather broke all contacts with aunt because of my uncle. I never dared to ask her anything about this because my mom warned me that it might upset her.

"I would love to tell you but don’t you think you’ll be late to go out with Adam?" she said smiling.

"No, there’s plenty of time. Please tell me, I want to know." I was desperate like a kid.

She smiled and said, "I will when the right time comes. Now go and get ready."

I gave up and went up to my room to dress up.

After a while I came downstairs ready to go with Adam. I was a bit nervous and wondered what will happen tonight? I shrugged the thought and went to Aunt’s room. "Did you take your medicines?" I inquired.

"I have. Ready to go?" she smiled.

"Yes." I said embarrassingly.

"Take care sweetie."

"I will. Good night."

"Good night." I turned off the lights and closed the door coming out. Suddenly I heard strange noises coming from outside. I tried to listen carefully and realized that it was the neighing of the horses. Stunned, I went up to the door and opened it to look outside.

"Hello" said Adam taking off his hat and bowing.

I stood there startled. Adam was sitting on the carriage on the driver’s seat whipping horses. He jumped down and came towards me. I tried to speak but he held his hand out to me and said, "I promise, I'll make this evening really special for you."
