Deep Discounts on Disney World Tickets! Some say 25% off, some 50% off .. What's the catch ?

Are these Disney World Ticket discounts real ?

Before I get into any details think about it this way. The regular single day admission price on the Walt Disney World tickets in $71 per day. Now you will see some sites selling tickets as low as $25 per person and may be even lower. Now if these websites were selling straight tickets which you could just buy without there being any CATCH, then everyone would have bought tickets from these websites and all other online as well as retail places selling Walt Disney World tickets would have gone out of business by now.

So whats the catch ?

One of the most known concept is "timeshare" which will have you attend about 90 minutes or more presentation from the resorts. After the presentation you will receive the Disney tickets for the discounted prices they initially mentioned. These prices vary with the resort. If this was as simple as you read, everyone would be attending a 90 minute presentation and come out with huge savings on the tickets.
So where is the catch ? First of all you can see this for yourself. All these websites will not have an online shopping cart or something similar where you can go ahead and just buy the tickets you need. You will need to call a number where you will be asked to give your personal details and what you will be doing is booking a slot for the timeshare presentation. Its not that easy! You have to attend this presentation in pair with your spouse.

Can I just leave after the presentation with the tickets ?

Wish the world was that simple. Once these presentations get over, most of the times you will be assigned a sales representative who will then sit with you and your spouse and explain all the packages the resort offers and will try to convince you to book some package in advance. This is one common example and on similar lines you may be asked to review and participate in some product. As always you have the ultimate say to buy or signup or skip. But you will be going through all the sales blah! blah! and once you are done you will get your tickets.

Is this approach good for me ?:
This is up to you to decide. Most people prefer just buying the tickets and heading to the park. When you are travelling in a group then you would want to avoid attending these presentations and sitting at the table to discuss packages and products that you are not interested at all. If you are travelling with a family then this option may not be worth at all. Because you have to attend these sessions with your spouse and even if you have more than 2 adults apart from your spouse you might not want to waste few hours of your precious vacation time attending the above sessions.
