Deception - Chapter 2
Anora has no idea how to get out of the forest, but when an armored man chases her, she gets an idea.

Slowly, I moved my foot backwards, stepping back from the armored man. He mirrored me by slowly placing his right foot forward. I stopped and gazed into the red dots that were where his eyes were supposed to be. I didn't care if this guy was friend or foe.
I turned swiftly and began to run away. Trees whirled past as my legs went faster and faster yet. I heard a clank clank clank. The armored man was chasing me. All I knew was this guy was a foe.
My feet began to ache. The forest floor had hidden stones that I had stepped on. Sticks cut the delicate skin on my foot. I winced but continued to run, still hearing the clank clank clank from the man. The fog lessened and so did the intensity of the clanking. He was falling behind. I quickly glanced behind me. The armored man was gone.
I stopped running and stood there, trying to catch my breath. I looked around me, making sure the coast was clear. Necklace still in hand, I decided to place it back around my neck. I looked down to see a small pool of blood at my feet. The rocks and dead leaves were covered in a thin layer of a really dark red. With closer expection, the blood was actually black.
I collapsed onto the forest floor. I sat on the cool earth, staring at the unhuman blood. A new question popped into my head. What was I?
It was getting dark and I was growing tired. I looked around me, there was nothing but trees and rocks. There wasn't a living leaf to be found that could provide a bit of comfort. There was no moss beds, or even grass for that matter. There was only dirt and dead things. I tear slowly traced its way down my cheek. It felt so warm, so normal. I didn't know what to do or where to go. I was scared, I felt lost, I felt trapped.
The armored man had disappeared. Maybe I should have gone with him, let him catch me. He could take me out of this forest. He could provide some sort of comfort. I wouldn't be so alone in a dead world. Would he kill me though?
I thought about the man. If he really wanted me dead, wouldn't he have not hesitated? My best bet was to find the armored man if I was ever gonna get out of this forest. If I was ever gonna survive.
