DEBBIE - Chapter 7 & 8

Debbie spends the night at Emma's. (pic is of emma)
CHAPTER 7

The coffee came and I took a sip.
''Oh...sorry... my dad taught me better than this... I'm Emma... the King's daughter.'' She said, giving me her hand to shake. My ears stood up. King's daughter? This was the palace?! Suddenly I felt like I was in a fairytale.
''And who might you be?'' she asked.
I shook her hand and said, ''I'm Debbie...''
''Debbie... ok ... you were crying Debbie... what's the matter?'' she asked.
I looked down and placed the coffee on the table next to me, and then tears started rolling down my cheeks. I started telling Emma all that had happened...

''So since the day they died I've been living with my aunt and that's what happened today...'' I said with a lot of tears rolling down my cheeks.
''Don't cry Debbie...'' Emma said, leaning against me and she hugged me.
''You'll stay here for the night and we'll talk to your aunt tomorrow... come...''
She led me to her room and gave me something to sleep in and showed me to another bed in her gigantic beautiful pink bedroom. Emma was so kind and I don't even know how I'd repay her for doing this for me.
I pretty much didn't sleep the whole night. I kept on thinking about my mom and dad. If they had been here, how much life would've been poles apart and more fun?

CHAPTER 8

''Aaaah!'' I screamed. I felt a strong flash of light pierce my eyes.
''Oh common! You've been sleeping forever!'' Emma said jumping on my bed.
''What time is it?'' I grumbled. I had slept peacefully like a baby today. I got so used to being poured cold water each daybreak to go and fetch water or make the fire. I wanted to stay here forever but I guess I couldn't.
''Get up... breakfast is ready.'' Said Emma, jumping off my bed. She looked so beautiful. She had a white silk top on with blue denims and white slip-ons. I got up, took a temperate shower and headed to the living room.

As I entered the room, Emma came rushing towards me and hugged me, showing me where to sit. There was a woman sitting crossways me and a man sitting on a golden-haired chair, with a sort of javelin in his hands.
''Uhmmmm... mom, dad, this is Debbie, the girl I've been telling you about.
''Oh... welcome Debbie... welcome.'' The mother said. The father just nodded with a smirk to me.
''Thank you your highness.''
''Oh by all means, please, do call me Mrs. Shift.''
Shift? Now this all explained Emma's beautiful hair, her light skin tone and her accent. They were coloreds!

''Ok... Mrs. Shift...'' I said looking at Emma.
''Andrew!'' the father called out, and Andrew the guard came rushing in.
''Yes your majesty...'' he said taking a bow. This was amazing! Just like in movies. There's no such thing in Zimbabwe.
''Tell the maids to bring anything this young lady wants to eat...''
''Yes sir!''
''...Oh and one more thing Andrew...'' Emma's father said.
''Summon Mrs. Seth and her daughters here, this instance!'' he demanded.
