DEBBIE - Chapter 1
Debbie arrives in S.A and is not really pleased with what she sees but she's about to see and experience something that will make her heart bleed.
CHAPTER 1
O.M.G I have never been out of Zimbabwe before. Most of my holidays were visiting locally here, probably to the Kariba dam, Victoria Falls or National parks. I was so excited I kept on forgetting to pack important stuff.
''Debbie! You left your toiletries and your underwear!'' my mom screamed.
''oh...sorry, gosh I'm so excited!'' I said, taking my underwear and leaving my toiletries again. My mom just looked at me and smiled.
We finally got to the bus station and got into this exclusive bus to South Africa, Kwazulu Natal. We were to start a new life there. The thought of being closer to the beach fascinated me. I pictured myself coming straight from the university and straight to the sea. but most of all, I was excited to go there because Farai (which in shona meant Happiness) was going to be there. He moved to KZN almost 2 years ago. The long distance, however, never tore us apart. We communicated in any way we could through Facebook, twitter and emails. A day would not go by without us talking. Oh... this reminds me...
I took out my ordinary cell phone and dialed his number.
''hey baby.''
''hie Farai, how are you?''
''oh I'm fine... I guess you not coming anymore?''
''no ways! I am. Sorry I got so excited I forgot to tell you when we took off.''
''nah its fine, just text me when you arrive.''
''ok, will do... bye, got to go.''
''ok, see you when you arrive.''
I dropped the phone, sat back on my seat and looked at my mom and dad with this humongous, excited smile on my face. I breathed deeply and looked intently out of the window.

CHAPTER 2
We finally crossed the border at 1o'clock A.M. and we arrived in KZN town at 7o'clock in the morning. We were to stay at my mom's cousin's place in a small village called Kuvukiland. My mom had told me about it long back. They have their own Empire there, like the igwes in Nigeria...lol. They have a king who acts as a president in the village. I thought this was funny because I never imagined myself living in a village... with a king? Lol... nah it never crossed my mind. O.k.... as I was saying... we were to live at my mom's cousin's place. She had 2 daughters that she loved so much. So for a year or so, we'll be crashing in with them.
The bus stopped by this colorful bus stop.
'' dad! '' I screamed.
''we are here!'' I stood up and took my bag and ran out.
''honey calm down.'' My dad said. Those words had no value to me all because my dad had been here a lot of times.
''wow?'' I shrugged. Things looked the same. Nothing different! I felt I was in road port in Zimbabwe.
''come honey, we've got to look for Aunt Seth.'' My mom said.
I looked around but my aim was not to find my aunt, I was browsing the place. Maybe there's still more to see, but this is not what I expected.
''Robin!'' a feminine voice shouted from the back. It was my aunt. We hugged each other and greeted each other. I thought they'll speak in shone but they spoke in English.
''mom, isn't she shone?'' I whispered.
''no honey, they ear originally from here.''
''oh, great.'' I said rolling my eyes.
Aunt Seth led us to her car and we got in.
''it's just a 20 minute drive from here.'' She said.
''oh so Seth... what's the name of your village again.''
''Kuvukiland.'' She answered.
My mom and dad talked about matters that I had no interest in. I wanted to talk about clothes that were here, if there were cute guys and other stuff. Not politics and the financial standing of the country.
Finally we got to the village. It was so different. Many people were in the road.
''I don't park in the gate, so I'll drop you here, and I'll go park the car. I'll be right back, the girls' will open for you so long.'' Aunt Seth said.
We dropped out with our bags and she drove off. As the girls tried forcefully to open the gate, suddenly we started hearing screeching noises.
Screech! Screech! Bang! Bang!
Everyone screamed and started getting down but we remained up coz we had no idea as to what was happening.
Two golf CTIs came rushing towards us. The other one had a police serine. They started shooting and that's when we realized what was happening.
Bang! Bang! They shot at each other as they passed us. I got down screaming fearfully. My mom and dad got down so quick too. They passed and my heart and hands were shaking. I had my hands over my head and my eyes tightly closed.
As I opened my eyes, a crowd of people started running towards us. What now! What's wrong!
I then took a glance at where my mom and dad were.
''No! Mom! Dad!''
