Death Sets Us Free

Comments please?
If you were gone,
Do you know what I'd see?
Nothing at all,
Since your light's guiding me.

If you were hurt,
Take a guess what I'd hear.
Not another sound,
But for that of my tears.

If you were lost,
Do you know what I'd do?
Get on my knees,
Begging God it's not true.

And if you were dead,
Just the thought is a Hell I can't bear.
I'd lose half my soul,
The part of which we share.

I know you can't help it sometimes,
When it hurts so bad; the pain.
But when you talk of suicide,
It puts all my love to shame.

If you did that, I think I'd blame myself,
Since we talk every day.
Why didn't I try harder?
Why couldn't I see when you felt that way?

I'm getting ahead of myself, I know.
But when you discussed it, I lost control.

I'm sorry I sent the message I told,
But what if you had and I'd not been too bold?

If you were gone,
Who knows where I'd be?
Maybe the next to think Death sets us free.
