Death on the Highway
God's Creatures Don't Have a Chance
Awful, your body spread across the highway
Lifeless and bloody
Your soul long escaped
Yet your remains lay still
Till they rot away
Had you been human it would be a crime
But as one of God’s solemn creatures
No one raises a dime
Your battle against the machines of mankind
Is lost
Due to overwhelming odds
Your best bet is to learn
When to cross
And when to not
Awful as it is
Your body spread across the highway
Maybe it will teach
Another creature
To look
Before crossing
Lifeless and bloody
Your soul long escaped
Yet your remains lay still
Till they rot away
Had you been human it would be a crime
But as one of God’s solemn creatures
No one raises a dime
Your battle against the machines of mankind
Is lost
Due to overwhelming odds
Your best bet is to learn
When to cross
And when to not
Awful as it is
Your body spread across the highway
Maybe it will teach
Another creature
To look
Before crossing
