Death In Due Time

Another Existence Is Waiting
I’ll get to it
When I get around to it
It’s not something
In my plans

I don’t think about it
‘Cept now that I am writing about it
It’s not something
I see in the sands

At the beach
Or the movie theater
Or driving through farm country
Or visiting a neighbor
It’s out of mind

Thumbing through a newspaper
Obituaries
With names and photos
Brings me to find

That mixing a cocktail
Moves that frame from my mind
‘Till there is another jolt
In time
That reminds me
There is another existence waiting
In due time
