Dead Daddy

Dear Daddy,
Today you died. What sadness I felt. I wanted to cry, but I couldn’t. I never saw you cry. You were such a brave man. But don’t worry Daddy, I’ll always remember you and always love you. I’ll always remember what you said to me, "always be the best that you can. Never let anyone look down on you. Remember who you are." You were such a family man. You always stood up for us and protected us. You were kind at heart and soft inside.

Dear Daddy,
Do you remember Daddy, when you and I used to sit outside and you used to tell me stories of when you were a kid? Stories about how you got that scar on your arm and stories about school and the pranks that you did? I remember! I’ll always remember! I’ll remember our continuous hours when you were teaching he how to ride my bike! What joy I found in those exhausting hours! But these are scars that live on forever.

Dear Daddy,
Once I was a little girl, then I grew up. Once I grew up I was the perfect age. The nights we stayed awake, up late talking about politics and current affairs. Do you remember the night we stayed till late talking about what colleges I would go to? And what degrees I’m going to get? And how about when you said that I was going to be Prime Minister one day.

Dear Daddy,
I never got to say good bye, but I never got to say hello. I wish I told you how much I loved you, but its too late now. But never fear, for your memories will forever live on in my mind. Daddy, one day we’ll meet again! Hopefully not too long! Then I can sit in your lap again and hear those stories over and over again.

Dear Daddy,
Don’t worry about me I’ll be safe. I’ve remembered all the life lessons you have taught me. I’ve remembered everything you have said to me. I’ll keep Mike in perfect order, I’ll tell Marilyn who you were, I’ll make sure Biljana conducts herself properly and I’ll help Mum in every possible way. I promise.
