Days are Cold
A emo guy just noticed how he acts might be bad... how will that affect him?
Part 1. Josh
"Natalie, to put it simply, me and Cody HATE you." Josh's scornful words caused Natalie and her friends to laugh loudly.
"Like we care what a couple of emo boys think, yeah right!" Natalie matched our outspoken tone. While the preppy girls smiled evilly in agreement. "Yeah, Well, Those girls don't know that you've been dating both that Jock guy and Cody do they?" Josh bit back.
Gasps exploded and were followed by the question "Why would you date an emo guy Nat?" The other girls' misunderstandment was apparent in their minds and Natalie fell to that, she seemed to be on the verge of tears.
"Well, come on guys ... he's just a experiment." Her shaky voice showed me another side of her. "Just an experiment? We've known each other since grade school." Cody finally spoke up. He wasn't angry just irritated.
"Let's leave this fight to the -" (Josh wanted to say sluts, but I knew that wasn't a good time.) "Girls." he added. "One sec." Cody strode to the mean ring leader Natalie. "We're done." He whispered near her so the other people might not hear him break up with her. Then he joined my side. "Why bother?" Josh leaned close to his ear. "'Cause even though she's a bitch now I've still known her practically my whole life." He answered. Josh nodded that 'that's cool.' nod. "Plus." Cody went on lightly. "It's all an act; most of the girls aren't that bad." Josh thought about that awhile.
Could Cody be on to something? Josh never dreamed to think of those preps as people with reason. He only thought of them as lying sluts. Cody was actually a nice, kind guy. Then what was I? Josh asked himself.
Then an epiphany hit him. He wanted to be like Cody. He wanted to try.
Josh grabbed a tray full of food he wouldn't eat, and then sat next to his so-called friends. Sure they had a few awesome moments once in a while but other than that he couldn't careless less about them, He truly only considered Cody his friend.
And Cody didn't talk much around them so he probable thought the same. I want something different today... He thought. Still he didn't know that to do. The leaving part was easy but the place to go... He had a hard time of thinking of one.
As if Cody had scanned his brain he said lowly "Dude want to go to the library?" "Yes." Josh said desperately. He sounded desperate and it was funny because he never said yes it was always 'yeah' but now he was losing his cool. Part of him was gnawing at its self.
Cody led the dumbfounded Josh to the cafeteria doors. When they were outside and away from lurking eavesdroppers Cody confronted Josh. "Josh what's up?" Cody's eyes gave a certain light that peeled Josh's composure. "I-I don't know. One moment I could totally tell those sluts off and the next I couldn't ... just couldn't." It was odd because even though josh wasn't crying his voice was cracking, not in sadness but rather mirrored fright.
What am I scared of? He told himself.
Of being a normal sneaked up person. Why do I care?
