Let your Date Talk
Each one of us likes to talk about ourselves. So one of the good conversation topics, especially when you are meeting somebody for the first time, is the date herself or himself. Ask your date about her profession, her siblings if any, her friends, her hobbies, her likings and disliking, etc. This way your date will do most of the talking, and you will be able to learn about her a lot too.

Talk About Past Dates
First dates should be all about fun, and very rarely emotional topics should be touched. One of the funniest topics is discussing past dates which have been embarrassing, disaster or unique in some way. You may also converse and exchange notes on each others dating style. Make sure that you have enough material to talk about to your date. Talk about Future
After you have dated for a while, and know quite a lot about each other, and want to take this dating a bit further to something like "dating each other exclusively". At that time, one of the ideal topics to talk about is the future. Knowing what you want from your life, is it in conjunction with what the other person wants, do both of you want to date each other exclusively, can this relationship be taken further - all such things have to be included in the conversation during the date.

Although each person and each relationship is unique, so it's virtually impossible to generalize what two people will find interesting to talk about on a date.
