Darkening Sky

Chapter One: The beginning

Hi, I’m Arrion you’re not so average 16 year old. I go to West Mount High for the gifted, except we aren’t gifted in the way you would think. We have powers or in some of our cases the Power when joined together.

Some of us were government experiments, like my best friend Nikki. She was turned into a vampire when the government was trying to make a new kind of race. Ludicrous isn’t it? I guess they didn’t have a need for her anymore when they were done experimenting with people they needed to get rid of her, so instead of returning her to her family, that she was taken from, she was sent to West Mount High. You wouldn’t believe that she is one though. Tall, straight black hair, deep mahogany brown eyes, pale skin and well a chest that doesn’t look like it could even been natural, it is of course it’s just every single one of her features were made even more stunning when she turned. Every single guy in her grade gawks over her.
Another shocking beauty is, Charlotte, we’ve been friends since babies, she’s beautiful, with dark chocolate hair, almost matching dark eyes, with tan skin, and a slender frame. She’s always looked at, but yet she’s to shy to actually go talk to any of them. Although then again she is dating my twin brother Nicolas, so I don’t think talking to other guys would help very much. I almost forgot to mention she can shape shift, except only into certain animals.

Nicolas, my twin brother, is nothing like me. He’s tall with black curly hair and eerie hazel eyes. He’s an angel. Literally. That’s why they put him in the school. He can make the most difficult situation seem easy. Everyone loves him and we all know why.
Then there is Danny, he’s my guy best friend, he’s on the shorter side with burning green eyes and shocking red hair. He has freckles sprinkled across his nose and cheeks. They look amazing on him. He controls fire. Sometimes he gets carried away with it, but I mean really who doesn’t get carried away with something like that?
Oh, I didn’t mention my boyfriend, Skyler. He’s gorgeous. The greenest eyes, richest brown hair, extremely tall, and skinny. He’s a male witch and the most amazing kisser, but lets not talk about that.
Well I guess while I’m telling you about everyone else I should mention me. I’m not that interesting. Short, with golden hair with streaks of brown and red, bright blue eyes, freckles, and skin as pale as snow with rosy cheeks. I can control anyone’s thoughts, actions or emotions. I can’t be compared to the rest of them. So good thing I saved myself for last.

Today was just an ordinary day for me. I got up went into the bathroom turned on my favorite song from my iPod jumped into the steaming shower, got out brushed my teeth, got dressed, did my hair and make up, and then grabbed my books and walked down to the dining hall where my best friends, brother and boyfriend were waiting and eating breakfast.
The first thing I saw when I walked into the room was Nikki with her hair flowing down her shoulders with a deep red shirt on ,that showed off her chest of course, black skinny jeans, and her finishing touch black and red stilettos. I rolled my eyes typical Nikki flirting with some boy. Next to her was Danny writing music and then to his left was Nicolas and Skyler in a deeply heated debate about something they usually never came to a conclusion with. Charlotte walked up behind me and said "Thank goodness you’re here! I need help with getting your brother away from Skyler, so I can have at least five minutes with him!" I laughed and gave her a hug.
"Don’t worry, I got it."

Both of the guys raised their heads as I walked to the table. Nicolas greeted me with a nod and smile, Skyler greeted me with a warm kiss and hug. "Baby, you look so beautiful today." He said with a dashing smile. I smiled in return. I was wearing black ballet flats with pink lacy bows on the ends of them, deep blue skinny jeans, and a soft pink long sleeved top. My hair was pulled into a low side ponytail so you could see all my piercings on my ears and my heart necklace I never removed. Of course I could have been wearing an ugly floral dress and he still would of said that. He sat down and pulled me on to his lap and put his arms around me. I sighed. He was perfect.
I could hear his thoughts and they all said "I love you" in a low soothing voice that I couldn’t resist. His voice was always unbelievably sexy. I whispered in his ear saying I love you too. I tore my attention away when I heard Nikki yelling my name mentally.
"Do you guys think you could stop for maybe a second or two? You’re making me want to heave up my breakfast."
"Do you think you could stop flirting for a second or two?" I flicked my eyes to her new boy toy.
She glared "No, but how would you like a big kick in the….." her snarl was caught off by the school’s dean Dr. Cringle’s clear of throat. If there was one thing he couldn’t stand it was vulgar language.
"And Miss Crow, what were you going to say? I didn’t quiet hear it."
She let out a low hiss from under her breath before speaking. "I was going to say how would like to join me and Chris for a study party in the library? Its going to be a huge kick!"

I let out a suppressed giggle but quickly covered my mouth. Her lie seemed so real. Dr. Cringle didn’t even question, he didn’t even hesitate to leave after hearing it either.
I burst out laughing "So when did you become such a great liar?" I inquired.
"When I was thinking that I didn’t want another detention."
The whole table chuckled. Danny and Nikki exchanged high fives. I could hear Danny’s thoughts loud and clear. "Why can’t I just have her or Arrion? Why? I would be good to them. I really would be." I darted my eyes to him. He caught them and bashfully lowered his own eyes. I smiled and looked at him with happiness. He read my face perfectly and returned my smile with his own dazzling one.

The first period bell was about to ring, so I quickly gathered my things, kissed Skyler good-bye, hugged Nicolas, and grabbed Charlotte. We were going to be late if I hadn’t. All she wanted to do was sit and talk with my brother some more.
She pouted all the way to class, of course. I didn’t bother to ask why because I knew it was from me pulling her away from Nicolas. Besides it wasn’t even a real pout. She would get over it. We walked into the chemistry lab and sat in our usual seats, second to last row from the back all the way to the left. I put my stuff down and went over to Danny’s table where he sat with a beautiful blonde that looked at him constantly, he paid attention to her and he liked her, but she did have some whorish ways with guys. "Hey, Danny! How’s it been goin’?
"Pretty good, you? Oh and sorry about my thoughts this morning I know it wasn’t exactly what I should be thinking now-a-days. You and Skyler are in love and well Nikki just won’t give me the time of day."
I rolled my eyes "Well, if you made an effort for her and didn’t sit around and expect her to just come around some day calling your name."
He smiled. "Yeah, I guess you’re right. Want to hang after 4th period and do some of our homework?"
"Sounds like a plan. I have no idea where to even begin for the English paper, but listen we’ll talk after class. Professor Blake is just about to announce the being of class."

I returned to my sit with a dancer’s graces as usual. It kind of came with being half angel and all. Professor Blake announced class to begin just like I had said. By then Charlotte already had her notebook out her pencil ready to jot notes down and she also had my stuff ready. I smiled and thanked her.
