Darkening Sky Chapter 3
Chapter 3 to my book in progress. Enjoy. (extremely short)
Chapter 3: Bad things happen to all good people sometime in their lives.
Third period was like watching paint dry. Uneventful and extremely boring, nothing out of the usual. I nodded off to sleep once or twice, but I didn’t get much sleep. Too many thoughts going on at once and most of them didn’t make much sense. I walked out of the class waiting to find Danny so we could head off to English together. As soon as I turned the corner there he was listening to the deafening heavy metal music he listened to in between classes. I took out one of his ear buds and he frowned. He was really into his music that was for sure. He began to talk about his magic class, I tuned him out. What was wrong with me today? Everything else was normal, but I just couldn’t seem to focus on anything. Danny waved his hand in front my face. I snapped back to him. "Arrion, what’s wrong with you? You’ve seemed out of it all day."
"I was just thinking that. Maybe I’m just tired?"
"Yeah, maybe."
Mrs. Bumble drowned on and on about some British writer. "Of course he’s British!" I thought to myself. Anything that had anything to do with Britain was great! I looked over at Danny next to me, slumped over onto his desk, eyes shut, and mouth open. He was asleep. His favorite thing to do in this class, I didn’t blame him for it though. I would of loved to have slept, but I needed to pay attention.
Class flew by at an alarming rate. That wasn’t usual. Usually this class lasted forever, but either way I was glad to get out of here. I nudged Danny and he woke up. "Yeah, what’s going on? Someone dead?"
I laughed "No, it’s just time to leave. C’mon we’re going to the library remember?"
"Yeah, I know. Just give me a second. I need to wake up."
I rolled my eyes. So typical of him, he never missed a thing even when he was being oblivious. I started to leave the room. I knew he would catch up and he did.
"New record, you caught up in 17 seconds."
"Thanks. I’ll keep that in mind so I can beat my high score next time." He said sarcastically.
We laughed and talked all the way to the library. I gave him a stern expression making him realize we were here for work only. He nodded and opened the door and we walked in. We went straight to the computers to do our essays for English like I had said in Chemistry. I finished and so did he. I went and did my math homework while he worked on his history. Eventually we were both done. We left and walked around the quad a little.
"So how was your day?" he asked tiredly
"Uneventful, yours?"
"Same. Well I think we should be going back. I’m getting tired. I’ll walk you to your room."
"You don’t need to."
"No, I want to."
"Okay then, off we go." I smiled.
We came to the door of my room and I hugged him good-bye. I said I would see him soon maybe later since it was Friday after all. I started to open my door when he grabbed my hand. He turned me around and kissed me. I stepped back, blinked a few dozen times, whispered a small good-bye, and went into my room and shut the door. Well, more like slammed the door. I couldn’t believe he had just done that, but he had.
