The second chapter to my book in progress, Darkening Sky, I hope you enjoy these chapters.
Chapter two: Magic Class

Chemistry had ended and the second period bell was going to ring. I groaned and got out of my seat and began to chat with Danny and Charlotte. The bell rang and I went off to Magic Class with Nikki.
She was strutting down the hall as if it was a runway. I linked arms with her and greeted her with a kiss on the cheek. I had to stand on my tippy toes to do that though.
"Hello Arrion."
"Hey, how was your math class?"
She yawned "Bleh, as usual. What about your Chemistry class?"
"Boring as death."
"Death is interesting. There are so many ways to die." She let out a low throaty chuckle.
"True, but it all those ways just lead to one thing, death. It’s that simple."
She shrugged "Yeah, I suppose. Why don’t we just stop talking about it. It’s making me thirsty."

We laughed till we reached the door of the class room. There was a young boy, no, man, sitting in the extra chair at our table. Nikki’s mouth fell open. I knew what she was thinking even before I could hear a thought. He was the most beautiful thing we had ever seen.
We looked at each other and a slow lazy smile appeared on her lips. Her fangs very noticeable. I shook my head, sighed, walked to my seat at the table where he was sitting, and I introduced myself "Hi, I’m Arrion and this is Nikki. What’s your name?"
"Please, Arrion you sound like such a child. I can introduce myself to him."

I shot her a look of death. She glared back. It was all in good fun we never really mean it. I rolled my eyes "I was just being friendly." I sat down and pulled out my notebook.
Nikki lowered herself into her seat and never taking her eyes off the boy. "So what is your name? Arrion already gave mine, but you haven’t given yours"
The boy smiled. "I’m Darris. I’m an exchange student from North Valley High."
"What’s with all the directions and places?" I chimed in.
"Each represents where power lines lay. It’s the only way we can practice magic without getting caught. Didn’t you cover that yet?"
Nikki and I shook our heads. "No, but we would like to know more." We said it the same time. He chuckled.

"Are you too best friends?" He asked wistfully.
"Yes, we are." We both said it in unison.
He laughed. "I’ve never seen a mind reader and a vampire as friends before. They usually get annoyed with each other rather quickly."
"How did you know what we are?" Nikki asked lazily but full with curiosity.
"I can read people’s gifts and I’m also a vampire."
Nikki’s mouth nearly dropped "I’ve never meant another vampire before."
"Neither have I." he whispered.
"Shall we talk at lunch? Somewhere private may be?"

I giggled, she never did give up. She loved her guys as much as they loved her. The teacher began to lecture about elevating spells which was on of Nikki’s natural powers so obviously she wasn’t paying attention to the teacher. She was too involved with Darris. I don’t blame her though. With long black bangs and medium red spikes in the back, bleach blue eyes that shined, almost translucent skin, skinny, a silky smooth voice that was extremely timid, and the perfect height he was hard not to look at. I could see half the girls in the class gawking at him. He was ignoring all of him for her though. How cute I thought to myself.

The bell signaling that class was over was just about to end. I looked down at my paper full of notes. Not that I needed to take them it was just a habit. I packed my stuff up and looked out the window admiring the trees. It was beautiful, the perfect fall day with the leaves just turning orange, red, and brown. The bell rang and I shot out of my sit. It scared me. I wasn’t paying very close attention either as I tripped over my chair. Nikki giggled and held out her hand to help me up. I took it and thanked her. We walked off to the table together as she chatted furiously with Darris. She shook out her long mane and asked him to sit with us. He agreed and she linked arms with him and let her head fall onto his shoulder. I thought to myself again how cute it was. I guess Nikki could sense what I was thinking since I was smiling like an idiot and she glared at me. I giggled. I sped up as I saw the table I needed Nicolas’ help. I couldn’t exactly understand my Latin homework and since he was Mr. Know-It-All I figured he could help. I left the table to go get my lunch
with Charlotte and Danny. "

"Hey punkin’!" Charlotte said in a slow drawl. She was trying to act cool.
"Hey darlin’!" I said with cheer as I kissed her on the cheek, which has mostly turned into my way of greeting people.
"Hey Danny!" I said with excitement. I gave him a quick hug and kiss on the cheek also.
"Hey Beautiful."
"I thought you said you wouldn’t call me that anymore."
"What? I don’t like lying to you."

Charlotte and I laughed. We walked through the line and chatted as we picked out our food. When we got back to the table Everyone was already there. I guess we really did take our time. Nikki and Darris were sitting close together talking and holding hands. Nicolas was waiting for Charlotte and Skyler was waiting for me. I went sat down next to him while Danny sat across from me almost glaring at him. I gave him a look that said it was enough of that. He went back to eating his lunch.

I didn’t notice it till the end of lunch but there was to new faces at the table both similar. Twins I guessed. Both extremely pretty, long straight brown hair, green cat eyes, tall, slender, curves, and both looked very serious. I cocked my head in confusion as to what they were doing here. I looked at my brother and knew he invited them. "Thanks for telling me, bro. You could have saved me some confusion there." I got up threw away the rest of my uneaten lunch and walked to my math class. I thought to myself of how boring that class was. I sighed and kept on walking.
