Dark Waters - Chapter 2D - Incendiera's Betrayal

Sorry it took so long to write this part. I'm having slight difficulty writing at the moment but I'll try to keep it coming. The next part should be good.

Hunter lets out a string out curses, just about to run after Kim so that she wouldn’t ever threaten Amanda again. Jaclyn sees what Hunter is about to do and grabs onto him.
"Hunter! You can’t do that! You’ll be labeled as a rogue if you attack her and you know it!" Jaclyn says, just restraining him long enough to talk to him. If he chose to go out she wouldn’t be able to stop him while in human form. Amanda realizes what’s happening and reaches out for Hunter.

"No, Hunter. You can’t risk that for me!" Amanda says, her eyes sparkling with unshed tears. Hunter sees those tears and immediately his anger goes up a few notches.
"I’m sorry, Amanda, but I just… have to." he says, running out the door. As soon as he’s away from the lights of the city he switches to panther form without stopping and continues to run. He suddenly catches Kim’s scent, realizing that she’s stopped running, and heads toward her.

Just as Hunter catches sight of Kim he slows down and switches into human form, about five yards from her. Just as he’s approaching her something hits him from the side and he’s knocked flying. Just as Hunter picks himself back up Alexon shifts out of his leopard form into his human form.
"I can’t let you do this, Hunter," Alexon says, looking prepared to fight.
"So now your protecting a recruiter and tracker, Alexon? I thought you had gone rogue?" Hunter snarls, his panther mentality almost completely in control.
"I have gone rogue. But that doesn’t mean I don’t have a shred of decency in me. Anyway…" Alexon says, smiling savagely, "If anyone gets to kill her it should be me," he says, baring his fangs.

"Oh so your protecting her to kill her. I bet she’ll be *so* happy," Hunter says sarcastically, "Anyway. I’d really like to get to my act of revenge."
"Too bad. While you were snarling at me and cursing she left," Alexon says, still not relaxing and sounding snide, "So go back to your little human, Hunter."
Hunter growls but decides to back off for now. He’d never forget this though. Just as he backs off Alexon relaxes and watches Hunter disappear into the night, headed back toward the club, before also disappearing.

Hunter arrives back at the club about half an hour after leaving and the minute he enters Jaclyn steps in front of Amanda.
"Relax, Jaclyn. I didn’t have a chance to attack the recruiter so I’m no danger to Amanda," Hunter says, sounding tired and weary. Amanda hears the tone of his voice and gets up and walks over to Hunter. She gently wraps her arms around his neck and lays her head on his shoulder.
They stand there for a few minutes, Hunter awkwardly wrapping his arms around her waist, before Hunter steps back.
"Thank you for that… I think you should stay here tonight though. Jaclyn are there two extra rooms we can borrow? One for Amanda and one for me?"
"Of course," Jaclyn says, leading them into the back towards their rooms.

Some distance away Incendiera watches, pulling out her phone to make a call to Le Conseil.
"Mistress Illuminata, I’d like to report in a certain Hunter Panthera. When he found out Kim was a recruiter he ran after her and tried to kill her. He was only stopped by the other rogue Alexon. I believe Hunter shall be considered rogue, may I call a hunt on him?" Incendiera says, hatred for Hunter burning in her voice. A woman’s voice, soft and gentle on the surface but commanding underneath answers.

"I’m sorry, Incendiera, but you may not be qualified to make this decision. Your like Kim’s mother and mothers do not always think straight when they’re child is in danger. I think you should be more worried about what Alexon has in store for Kim. But I will certainly look into Hunter and check if he is indeed a rogue. But no hunt for him until I have checked," Illuminata says.
"Of course, mistress," Incendiera says, hanging up. Almost immediately though she calls a different person, "I have just gotten permission from mistress Illuminata to call a hunt on Hunter Panthera. Please see that it is carried through immediately."
