Dark City - Ch.12

Erika in a wreck; Thomas going back...
Erika's eyes fluttered open, feeling the lingering kiss from Thomas. She touched her bandage on her head and remembered what Thomas said.

She got up from bed, slowly walked to the bathroom. In the mirror, her reflection scared her. The bandage covered her forehead, mostly. Slowly unwrapping it and there sat a big gash, now light pink. Erika let out a sob and stuck the bandage in her jean pocket.

Walking through the hallway, not hearing a word. Erika looked around the corners and no Lucy.

WHERE IS SHE? she wondered.

She got out of the apartment and a shadow started towards her. Erika ran the opposite way and hid behind an open door.

Lucy came around the corner and walked into the empty apartment. Erika got up and sprinted towards the road.

Taxis flew by and Erika raised her hand up for them to notice her; got one.

"Where to?" he smiled.

"It's a ten minute drive, just stay on this road and I'll tell you to stop."

The taxi started to go, and Erika looked out the rear window. Lucy's figure stood at the sidewalk giving her evil looks away.

YOU ARE ON MY LAST NERVE, FILTH. I WILL FIND YOU AND KILL YOU! she screamed in Erika's mind.

Erika sat back down in her seat, closing her eyes. Suddenly the car started to swerve uncontrollably. Opening her eyes, watching the building come closer, and crunching of the front of the car.

Pain shot through her body, trying to fight against the dark overtaking her. Thinking about Thomas made Erika stronger and the pain eased up.

TIME TO GET TO THOMAS'S HOUSE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

Erika hobbled out of the car and the building is a complete wreck. Flames burst out of the hood of the car, the driver is dead, but Erika still have hope on her side. Now to get to Thomas's house; somehow.`

"God damn!" his voice echoed through the woods. "Where are you!"

Thomas gave up the search for the rogue vampire. Fear hit his heart.

ERIKA!

He started to run through the woods; dodging limbs, thorn bushes, even baby chipmunks. The sound of cars echoed through the woods; almost to a road.

The green grass turned into cement then blacktop. Lights from headlights lit everything up.

"Stop!" Thomas shouted and a truck stopped.

"What the hell are you doing?" a voice demanded.

Thomas got to the truck and stared at the driver.

"I need a ride to Dark City. Can you help me?"

The driver nodded and he got in.

"Thanks."

The truck turned around quickly and went towards Dark City.
