Dangers - Ch. 8

Escaped from Lucas, dangers ahead...
We appeared into a well-lit room. Lucas grabbed a tighter grip on my arm, and took me to the living room. He pushed me onto the couch and started to bark out questions.

"Why did you want to become a vampire? Thought my brother was too weak for changing people." Lucas growled.

"I changed because I love Max." I softly said. "Quit talking about Max that way! He's not weak."

"Think what you like." he whispered. "I know him better than you."

I looked away from him with anger. Rage all bottled up inside me. Hoping Max would find me, and hope I can escape Lucas's grasp.

He sat down beside me, feeling my heart squeeze from anger.

"Are you going to answer my questions." he lightly said.

"No. Not to the likes of you!" I harshly said.

"Fine, I'll find out the hard way." Lucas sneered.

His hand touched my face and I felt weak. Feels like he's sucking my life away. I grabbed enough strength, and punched him in the face. Lucas hit the floor, and I got to the exit.

The cool air hit my face and I ran into the woods, hoping Lucas won't find me. I kept running, stopping for nothing. I looked down , and there was a trail almost, maybe exactly like the one Max and I was on. I kept running and Tim jumped in front of me. I quickly skidded to a stop.

"Lucas will be happy with me if I'd bring you to him." Tim happily said.

I looked around my surroundings for my escape routes. Tim came closer to me, and I ran to my left near the river.

The water flowing hard from the rainfall we had the past week or so. I sprinted upstream; Tim a quarter mile behind me. Not a safe enough space cushion. I pushed myself harder, then I stepped on loose gravel and fell into the raging river.

The water cold against my face and body. Strong currents dragged me under the water. I pushed my face out of the water and started to breathe hard. Fear came hard, hoping I won't die. I went under water again and something grabbed a hold of me. I was dragged out of the water and there stood Max.

"Max!" I said and coughed violently.

"Hey darling." he patted my back. "I'm glad you're safe."

I gave him a big hug and he picked me up. I snuggled up to him for comfort and warmth.

"Can we go?" I quickly asked. "Lucas is looking for me."

"Alright, hold on." he whispered and flashed away.
