Daddy

I wrote this poem because my daddy was taken into prison.
Help me darling daddy,
I cannot see your face,
But I feel a whole lot better,
When I’m in your warm embrace

I want you here with me,
So I can hold you tight,
I often cry and dream of you,
When I’m in bed at night

I also think about us
And how we used to giggle
And whenever you tickled me
How much that I would wriggle

I can’t ever see you walk away
Or ever see you leave
I need you here with me daddy
You don’t know how much I would grieve

I don’t know how I could ever cope
If you ever left my life
I certainly would not go on
I sound like I’m your wife

You are always in my thoughts
All day and every night
I wish we could jus fly away
Or float just like a kite

I wouldn’t change the way you are
Not even for my smile
I love you just as you are now
And I’ll love you all the while

You used to be my hero
Actually, you still are
I will always love you
No matter where you are.

I couldn’t ask for a better daddy
This one I’ve got just right
I love you so much dad
With all my power and might
