Daddy. ...Who Are You?
A poem about talking to your children about the world…
My children live here too,..
As they grow
And recognize
They ask me,.....
"Daddy. ...who are you?"
And I explain,...
Through tears of joy,..
And through endless pain,..
I say....
My dad was brown, my mom was light...
His dad was light,... Her dad was white,...
Her mom was Indian and black,
I do not know what tribe,...
I tell them millions suffer,..
And die each day..
Because of hate and greed,..
And for reasons I can not describe.
I live in America,
My children live here too....
As they grow and recognize
They ask me,.....
"Daddy. ...who are you?"
Then I say,...
I am you
