Customer Service Is Gone
I remember the days when customer service was number one. There were full service gas stations free of charge. You never left your vehicle. Clerks were so nice and helpful when you were shopping. That is all in the past.
I remember the days as a teenager when I pulled up to gas station. You would hear the clank... clank... of the bell. A man in uniform would come out to fill your tank and check your oil without being asked. He would say "thank you and come again". Shopping was fun. People were eager to get your business. Sales people wanted to help you. They were so nice. If it is getting your car worked on, going to a store of any kind, or a doctor's appointment - customer service is gone. You generally have to make an entire day to plan one of those events.
Service departments for cars are so awful. You can pull up to a dealer, and they will ignore you. You have to shout "hello". They never want to explain the work you had done. It takes forever. Going to any store, grocery or clothing, the clerks can be so rude. They talk on the phone as they ring you up. They can also ignore you for several minutes looking the other way. They pretend not to notice you standing there. Doctors' appointments, unless you are very lucky, take two hours or more. Even when the appointment is made in advance. It simply doesn't matter. If you need refills? Forget it. Most doctor's offices now have voice prompted message systems. They tell you in the message to expect 24 to 48 hours before they return calls. They say "hang up if this is an emergency and call 911". By the time you get a return call, it might be!
I have seen many arguments with customers during every event listed above. The world is becoming so violent as it is. When a person loses his cool, being treated badly for no reason, watch out. That person may have run out of patience that day. They may be carrying some type of weapon. Be careful.
