Curveball Chapter 10

When I looked up, I saw a familiar face peering down at me. He looked stressed and certainly older and taller, but I knew that it was Jeremy.
Okay, so don't kill me! I know it's been awhile, but I've been busy and uninspired! Anyway, I've been done with this for a few weeks now, but I've been too worried to post it. I feel like I'm letting you all down so much! I know that I'm probably letting you down more by not finishing it, and that's the last thing I want to do, so I just decided to post it and hope for the best! I hope you guys like it! Oh, I almost forgot, here are the replies to your comments!

Len-I know that they went from high school to college fast, but I needed to do that for the progression of the characters and stories. In case you haven't figured it out, Jeremy is returning in this chapter :) And you'll find out more about Olivia and her mom soon, so keep commenting and look out for the next chapter :)

Thanks to Samantha Brooke(Cheyenne Taylor), Emma, Ciriat, and Kelly 21 for commenting! This chapter is for the people who take the time to comment because it motivates me soo much! Enjoy! :)

I was in a rush to get to the book store. Owen was meeting me later, so we could find something to do and I wanted to get everything out of the way. I wanted to enjoy my last day without classes. The campus book store was jam packed! Apparently, everyone had the same idea as me.

After searching the book store for an hour and a half, I found most of my books and was ready to pay and get out of there. There were so many people that I had to shove my way through a crowd to get to the front. Suddenly, someone bumped into me so hard that I fell and all of my books flew out of my hands. When I looked up, I saw a familiar face peering down at me. He looked stressed and certainly older and taller, but I knew that it was Jeremy.

"Are you all right?" he asked. Obviously, he hadn't recognized me.

I grabbed his extended hand and he helped me up. "Yeah, I'm fine. Thanks."

"Olivia?!" he questioned.

"Yep, it's me. What happened to you? It seemed like you just disappeared one day!" I replied.

"Well, my dad got a job offer. He took it and we moved down here, to Columbus, the summer after freshman year." He bent down to pick up my books and I helped and then he carried them to the cash register. He was silent while I paid and then we left the store, eager to leave the crowd of students behind.

"Do you have to be somewhere?" He asked once we were outside.

"What time is it? I don't have to go until 12:00." I replied, pulling out my phone to check the time, "It's only 10:09, so I have time. I could really use some coffee! You wanna go get some?"

"Sure."

The walk to the coffee shop was short and we had some coffee and were seated at a table in no time.

"So, how'd you end up at Ohio State?" he asked.

"Scholarship for Baseball" I was happily sipping the coffee, grateful for the large amount of caffeine.

"I should've known. You were always the best player on the team, even if no one wanted to admit it."

"Do you still play?" I asked.

"Nope, I quit when I moved here. There was only one reason why I ever played anyway."

"Why's that?" I asked absentmindedly, concentrating on drinking my coffee.

"I was in love with the pitcher." He said it like it was the most natural thing in the world.

"What?!" I choked on my coffee.

"I loved you...a lot, actually. I got over it though. I actually started dating a girl a few months after I moved here and we dated until graduation."

"Why'd you break up?" I asked, recovering from my shock.

"She got a scholarship to Harvard and I couldn't ask her to turn it down for me!"

"Wow. I'm sorry. Do you have a picture of her?"

"Tons." He pulled his phone of out his pocket and tapped the touch screen a few times before handing it to me.

"Wow! She's beautiful!" I said. I found myself staring at her bright green eyes in every picture. She seemed so perfect, away at Harvard, and so beautiful. "You're one lucky guy."

"Well, I know one guys who's luckier. Speaking of that, what happened with you and Owen?" He asked, taking his phone and slipping it back into his pocket.

"We're still together. We have been since freshman year." I couldn't help myself; I had to smile at the thought of Owen.

"I always knew you two were perfect for each other." He was smiling now too.

That's when Owen walked in. He smiled at me, until he saw that I was with a guy. He headed through the coffee shop to our table. "Liv, there you are! I've been trying to call. I was worried about you!" he said.

"You're so forgetful! I told you that I was leaving early to go get my books when I saw you yesterday, dummy!" I teased as he sat down next to me, glaring at Jeremy.

"Who's your friend?" Owen asked.

"You don't recognize me?" Jeremy said, returning the glare.

"I ran into Jeremy at the book store. Well, to be more specific, he ran into me." I smiled, trying to break some of the tension, "and we wanted to catch up. I'm sorry, I didn't realize that you were worried about me or I would've come back to the dorm."

"It's fine sweetie. Can we go though? If you're all finished with your catching up, I mean." He glanced at Jeremy before turning back to me.

I looked over at Jeremy, "Is that okay? We didn't get to do much catching up."

"Of course it's okay! We'll catch up more later. I'll give you my number and we can meet or something."

After we exchanged numbers Owen rushed me out of the shop and we hurried down the sidewalk. He had his arm around me in a protective manner and he was silent.

"I don't want you to see him again, Olivia." Did he just call me Olivia?! He only calls me Olivia when he's angry.

"Are you mad at me?" I asked. What did I do?

"No, I'm mad at him. Are you okay?" he asked, looking down at me.

"I'm fine. Why wouldn't I be fine?"

"I don't know. I'm just worried about you honey. I don't like him. I never have." He was looking away now, down at the sidewalk.

"Well, I'm okay, so calm down. He didn't hurt me, or whatever it is that you're worried about. I'm perfectly safe."

"Okay, but I'm serious, I don't want you to see him again." He said.

"Owennn, he's my friend! I wanna talk to him again. I don't know why you're so worried! I love you, not him, and he would never hurt me!" I was whining like a five year old.

"Stop whining, cry baby. If it makes you happy, you can see him, but I wanna know when."

"Fine!" I said, pouting in defeat.

"Thank you!" he was smiling now, "Where do you wanna go?"

"I'm kind of tired. Maybe we could go back to my dorm for a while and then go find something to do later. My roommate said she'd be out all day running errands, so we'd be alone." I suggested.

"Okay, you can go take a nap, lazy!"

"You don't have to stay though. It'll probably be boring for you! You can go hang out with some of your new friends, if you want." I offered.

"Nope, I think I'll just watch my beautiful girlfriend take a nap. You look much more peaceful and a lot less sarcastic when you sleep! It's a nice change." he joked, "I might even take a nap with you. All of that Jeremy stuff made me tired!"

"Okay, then we're definitely going back to the dorm to take a nap! I feel like I'm turning into an old person though. What kind of college student takes a nap at noon?!"

"A lot of college kids don't even get up before noon." He argued. He really must've been tired, because he gave up, and we walked in a comfortable silence for the rest of the way.

When I got into my room I threw my stuff onto the floor and sat on my bed. I slipped my shoes off and crawled under the covers. Owen did the same and I drifted off to sleep with my head on his chest.
Who do you like better?
Owen
Jeremy
