The year has been very fashionable so far! Summer fashion trends for 2008 were all about bright colors and beautiful prints! Fashion designers always find many ways to represent the magic of spring so beautifully. That’s the beauty about the world of fashion! With every coming year, the trends keep changing, however, the basics at times, remains the same. Hmmm, the current fashion trends for 2008 are surely looking up for all fashionistas!

This summer season has seen an explosion of colors and prints in women’s clothing. Floaty and feminine, women who love dainty stuff have had their fill this year. Dresses made from light fabrics in all sorts of lengths were seen on the runways. Designer creations in transparent fabrics were a rage for the hot summers. Amongst the reds and yellows, a surprising element was the silver gray spotted on the fashion circuit. Tropical prints and tribal patterns designed in various silhouettes have been the flavor of the season. Asymmetrical hemlines have also been noticed amongst the current fashion trends for 2008.

Well, winter is fast approaching us and is around the corner! What do fashion designers have in store for us? Well, winter days spell gloom for many. Boring oversized sweatshirts, layered clothing and sweaters in wool! Sigh! It’s surely not a season for those who want to have a fashionable time, right? Well, it’s quite the contrary actually! Fashion trends for 2008 spell vibrancy and chic couture. Minimalist fashion clothing is in for the winter and those who are worried about freezing in the cold… well, there are other stylish options to stay snugly warm as well.

Hot Trends for the Cool Winter Season of 2008

'Less is more' has always been the bottom line in the fashion world. Well, currently, Calvin Klein and Prada are having this as a base for their fall collection. Black is back and how! This minimalist trend is surely catching on. Sleek looks in shades of black and gray were noticed on the runways. Knee-length formal dresses worn with stockings and boots have made a comeback of sorts for the winter season of 2008.

Peplum is the new look created by the house of Chanel, Yves Saint Lauren, Bottega Veneta and Prada. Peplum is all about a little bit of ruffles, either on skirts or tops. Soft fabrics with ruffles have brightened up the winter season for sure!

Trousers or pants in tweed are back in the spotlight for men as well as women! This need for tweed was visible in the fashion shows by designer brands such as Michael Kors and Alexander McQueen. The collection showcased an interesting mix of velvet, fur and tweed. Hmm, now whoever said winter clothing would be all about boring woolens is surely mistaken!

Long, sinuous designs in deep shades of reds and blues are also a part of the current fashion trends for 2008. The long lean look would probably never go out of fashion and this was proven by the collections of many other designers such as Derek Lam and Erin Fetherston. Long flowing dresses, long jackets with bold belts or sashes are a part of the fall season. In men’s fashion, its about fitting V-neck shirts in heavy fabrics. The jackets are must-have for men, in particular. And yes, leather clothing is not passé. Faux leather is not limited to club parties anymore.

Boots are getting hotter this winter season. You definitely don’t need to grumble about the kind of footwear that is planned for the fall season. Women can go in for biker or rocker boots. These are rather rugged in their appearance. Interesting buckles, straps, belts have all found a way onto these interesting winter footwear. Purple has been named as the color for the season; however, black and red are the obvious choice for many. Men can go in for boots that have a mixed element in its design. There are winter boots designed to look like hiking boots with insulation to keep the feet really warm! An added height at the ankle on normal, formal footwear is also one of the current fashion trends for 2008.

High waist pants are coming back on the scenario. Would that mean we bid adieu to the comfortable low waist jeans? Well, we can only wait and watch. Don’t forget the accessories for the winter wardrobe. Beautiful caps and big bags with oodles of glitz are on the cards for this season.

So, ensure you chuck out last year's fashion items and make way for new clothing! With 2009 being around the corner, we can look forward to another exciting and fashionable New Year!
