Curling

Similar to shuffleboard, curling is an indoor sport in which two four-person teams slide handle-topped stones toward the center of a circle at either end of an ice rink. One end is completed after 16 stones have been delivered and the team with the most stones nearest the target after eight or ten ends wins. Curling originated in Scotland and the Netherlands in the 1500s. Although it is the most popular in Canada, curling is also played in the U.S. and northern and central European countries and became part of the Winter Olympics in 1998. This section focuses on curling.
