Curiosity's Secret
Curiosity.

It lurks inside the dark,
As distant as a memory,
That veils itself in black.
There's a skeleton in the closet,
That's hidden in the past,
Best not to disturb it,
Curiosity killed the cat.
Desire burns like fire,
It flames the burning heart,
Thoughts that ponder mystery,
Ignorant of alert,
The signs are there so be aware,
While you dig up the dirt,
The enigma only deepens,
The secret holds the fort.
But still you ponder questions,
As you search for the facts,
You surround yourself with shadows,
The secret becomes a task,
A search you've undertaken,
Has become a mortal quest,
As you probe inside the darkness,
That weaves the secret's web.
So, now you've found the answer,
Bet you wish you hadn't searched,
The secret has you stupified,
It leaves you lost for words,
And you know you can't divulge it,
Exposure leaves you cold,
And fear ensures your silence,
Some things are better left untold.
