Crystalline - Chapter Seven
In this chapter Taymore gets captured by the evil twin.
My happiness would not last for long. I kept getting threatening letters and messages from my evil twin sister. One evening, I was planting some tomato plants and some herbs when out of nowhere an arrow whizzed by my head and landed in the tree trunk above my head. I gasped and fell backwards onto the ground. I looked again from where the arrow had come and saw a fairy archer standing behind a tree. I growled and took the dagger from its sheath. I threw it so fast you couldn't see it. It landed in his throat and he fell to the ground.
I ran towards him and saw the dagger protruding from his throat. I took my dagger and wiped the blood on some dry leaves. Suddenly Taymore appeared beside me sniffing the air. I looked at him and smirked, "Nose mislead you?"
He nodded, "Seems so. What is this?" He looked down at the dead fairy.
I shrugged, "They tried to kill me...but I caught him first. I kinda killed him. What do we do with the body?" He glared against the partial sunlight streaming through the trees. "We'll use it as a warning to those other fairies who try to trespass in our kingdom. I'll get the guards to impale the body and let it be a warning. Are you alright?" He pulled me against him and checked my body for wounds. I laughed and nodded, "Never better actually. Hey could we just get away from here for a couple of days?"
He raised an eyebrow, "Like what the humans call a vacation? Sure I suppose we could. Where would you like to go?"
I studied the ground and looked back up at him, "I want to go back to the human world and go to the beach. I haven't been since I was a child and now I'm like married so I want you to see it with me." I kinda looked off and then back at him. He nodded and took my hand looking deep into my eyes, "As much as I want to say yes to that, we cannot do that right now. It's too dangerous, Adonnenniel. If we go back to the human world we're bound to run into something we can't fight off by ourselves. Please trust me on this one."
I looked down and back up again, "You know that I trust you with my very life, Tay. I would never betray that trust either, so I will hold off on our vacation but first chance we get to actually take one, I want to go there. I want to see the ocean." He kissed my cheek and forehead and then hugged me tightly, "And I promise that as soon as this war with your sister is over, we shall go anywhere you like."
He made me happy. Seeing after my safety and his own before actually making me happy but promising me later, we would definitely take a vacation. It was something to me...he meant something to me...everything. I kissed him passionately and he had to break the kiss, "I have to go back to work but if you do not quit I fear that we may end up on the floor of our home." I couldn't help but laugh.
I let him get back to work and I went back to my gardening while they impaled the body of the fairy. I couldn't imagine what they would do to one of our people if they were found on their territory. I thought about my human life back in the human world as I worked. Once dark touched the skies, the lanterns were lit in the village and I went inside. I fixed dinner and waited for Taymore to come home. Once Taymore came in, he kissed my cheek and sat down with me at dinner.
I was becoming accustomed to being married. Taymore settled down in a chair close to the fireplace once dinner was over. I ran some water in the sink and washed dishes. He stared at me for a moment before turning to his book. He then suddenly put the book down and came over to me. He shoved me on the counter and kissed me passionately. He sank his fingers in my hair and whispered against my ear, "You make me so hot, my love. Just looking at you makes my blood run hot." He unfastened the button to my shirt and pulled it over my head. Next he pulled down my undergarments and tossed them aside. He made love to me against the sink. It surprised me.
Never before in all my existence had I felt that much passion and desire go through me. Once he and I were done, we retired to bed. The next morning I was rising rather early, setting his breakfast up, but I noticed he was not in the bed. I tensed as my feet touched the bottom of the stairs. Something was wrong!
I went outside and found his clothes lying on the bottom step shredded. I picked them up and ran my hand over the torn places. I looked up and the sky still contained the full moon. He had changed. It was a response I knew was coming but not this soon. I called upon my elven senses and ran through the forest fastly not stopping but once to take a breath. On the outside, I stopped long enough to smell his scent. When I found him he was close to Paranoose, the city my sister ruled over.
He was chained by the neck to a pin wheel. It was grinding gunpowder! Shock coursed through me and I glared. I heard a drum beat and had learned that they controlled the wolves by beating the drum in a particular pattern. Suddenly it began to rain. The sun rose but not in the land of Paranoose. Darkness dwelt there and anger shook my entire being. I gulped and ran all the way back into Hornburg. I demanded a guard go and tell my father and Taymore's that I wished to have council with them.
Taymore's father came to me first, "Princess I heard you wish to speak with me. Is something amiss? Where is your husband?"
I crossed my arms, "He's under control by my sisters men. They came at the sight of the full moon and put a spell over them all. All the young men. We have no more, only the guards. I must prepare for war at once my lord. It would not do me another sleepless night because I would go alone if I must. Call me a fool, I very well might be, but I would go after my husband and people."
I looked at him sternly, "Tomorrow, we go to battle."
