Crystalline - Chapter Four

Learn of Beleg's betrayal.
Weird world indeed I thought as I slid in the bed beside my new husband. We had been married for three nights now and still Taymore had not shown up anywhere near us. I snuggled up beside him and fell into a fit sleep. I awakened to the sounds of screaming outside the windows of our home. I got up and raced towards the window. I looked to see Beleg getting out of bed and putting on his trousers. He turned to me, "I must go help our people! They need me. Someone or something, is attacking us."

He grabbed up his sword and ran out. I sighed and ran my hand nervously through my hair. When I walked up to the window again things were quiet...too quiet. I looked around and then all of a sudden I was grabbed by a pair of strong arms. The beast that grabbed me was strong and held on tight. I turned red in the face and battled against him, "Let me go! Who are you!?"

He chuckled lowly which sounded from his throat like a growl. I only felt my anger become greater. It seemed he raced out the door with me into the forest. When I finally got enough energy to calm myself he let me go and I sat on a patch of moss. He changed from the wolf form into his human form. His dark eyes seeped into mine, "You know who I am. I am Taymore Prince of the Werewolves. Your father awaits for you in Hornburg. You will go with me there."

I said nothing more to him only wanted to know if my father was indeed in the kingdom of Hornburg. When we got into the fields of Elleniare, he stopped once more. He put me on the ground lightly and turned to me, "You say that you can love a fairy but yet you cannot love a werewolf? I was once human myself, Adonnenniel." He was strange because he gave me no chance to say anything to him nor for him to say anything to me again. I walked up to him finally and put my hands on my hips. "Are you just going to walk off when we try to have a conversation? I'm sorry, Taymore, but I can't deal with someone who won't communicate with me."

He shrugged and said, "Well that's a new one on me. I thought you hated communication. But your father awaits us, Princess. I have no intentions of delaying this meeting. Your precious Beleg has been captured and so have the elders. Now they will be made to listen to the pact and what it states."

I rolled my eyes, "How can anyone trust you? You've attacked Lyndonosh and captured my own husband."

He came up to me and put his nose to my own, "You are not married to him yet. Hear your father speak before you make assumptions."

Next thing I knew I was on his back again riding through the fields until we hit Hornburg Forest. It wasn't quiet like Lyndonosh. It was loud and you could hear the calls and hoots of all sorts of creatures. When we finally stopped it was in a big clearing. There in the middle of the clearing stood my father. I ran to him and hugged him tight. Never before in all my life had I been happier to see him. Tears came to my eyes, "Daddy why didn't you tell me what is going on with all this? About me really being an elf princess?"

He smiled and looked down into my eyes, "M'dear you were way too young back then and you wouldn't have understood. Now you are finally old enough to come back to Crystalline and take your rightful place. Before you start assuming things listen to what I have to say." He motioned for Taymore to join us. When Taymore stood beside me my father continued, "Long ago your uncle ruled this world. He was very kind and gentle and then the creatures of darkness came and overthrew him and the other elders. It was decided back then when the time came right, you would come back to Crystalline. But you were too young to find out anything back then. It was too early to decide your fate and keep you here. So I took you to the human world. Your mother and I kept you safe over there till now. You came back here because it was your time to do so."

He sat down on the ground and crossed his legs motioning for Taymore and I to do the same. When we were seated he continued. "You have a twin sister first of all, Adonnenniel. Her name is Arlena...and she was made to stay here. There is a tale of one coming back to rule Crystalline and now the fairies have mislead you. You almost married Beleg and I couldn't have stood for you to be with the wrong one, Adonnenniel. You were not made to marry Beleg. Fairies are very vile creatures and hateful liars. They have lied to you about the tale. The tale really states that two twins would come to fight for rule of Crystalline. One twin would prevail while the other would perish. Now listen closely, you are the twins. You have never met your sister but do not be mislead. She has taken sides with Beleg and his mother. Beleg was trying to lead you to his side so that you would give your title over to Arlena willingly."

I gasped and my heart felt constricted in my chest. Suddenly Beleg and the other fairies were wheeled in inside a wooden cage. Beleg looked at me, his azure blue eyes now a red color. He looked at me, "Don't believe him, Adonnenniel. He's lying to you!"

I glared at Beleg, "Oh is that so?! How could you do this to me!? I trusted you...I loved you..." My heart was breaking.

I turned away from him and walked away. The tears poured from my eyes and I ran till I was literally blinded from the tears. I came to rest beside a small brooke that ran through two tree trunks. Taymore came to sit beside me, "I would never hurt you like that. I don't see how he could have."

I sniffled, "What's more I trusted him...I really did love him. I thought he wanted to marry me and make a life with me. He only wanted to use me..."I wiped the tears with the back of my hand, "To get my title and give it to my twin sister! Whoever she is!"

He put an arm around me and proceeded to console me. I laid my head on his chest and could feel his heartbeat slowly inside his chest. "Is this how a broken heart feels?" I whispered to him.

He sighed and smirked a little, "I think so...yeah."
