Crystalline - Chapter Eight
The battle begins and ends with someone dying.
Darkness seeped into the country from every part. Arlena was intent on making my life a living hell and she was succeeding so far. I looked at the skies one last time before turning and donning my war gear. I put on my corset and leggings. I then pulled on the high leather boots. Adjusting myself I walked over to the mirror and ran my hands through my hair. It was heavily tossled. I braided my long dark hair into a single braid that hung down my back. My green eyes sparkled back at me from the reflection. I smiled slightly and nodded. It was time to make my move and advance on the heavily guarded city.
Anger swept through me as I remembered the way Taymore had been chained to that wheel. I sheathed my sword in the scabbard at my side. I slung my bow on my back and made my way into the city. My guards of 140,000 were behind me led by my father and Taymore's father. Today was war and I remembered the saying that war was hell. Arlena would have hell to pay once my men attacked her beautiful dark city and left it in ruins. Suddenly a loud howl sounded behind me. I stopped my horse and turned to face them, "Men, vampires, werewolves! Today is our day of fighting! Today we take back the city that belonged to our past generations. Today we take down the evil fae that have trapped our loved ones. Today we stand united together and fight the evil. Today we take back what is ours. Are you with me?!"
I let out a battle cry and swung my sword high in the air. I yelled attack to the men that led the long wooden pole that would break down the gate. They used the pole and broke down the gate. Once inside we were shocked to find my sister sitting in the midst of the city on a golden throne. She was exactly like me...only her eyes were red, and her skin an awful shade of pale more pale than myself. She had vampiric long teeth that scared me. She smiled at me, "My dearest sister, I have been waiting for you. Welcome to Paranoose city of the Fae."
I glared at her but made no move to go towards her, "Arlena, I'm glad you have been expecting me. Today we are here to fight for the city that rightfully belongs to me."
She laughed out and sighed. She got up and I raised an eyebrow at the outfit. It was something that Lady Gaga would have worn in my human time. I almost giggled but didn't feeling that I would offend her. Not that I really cared but I thought she might try to kill some of my men. She came down and stood face to face with me. For a moment I could tell the only difference between us was personality and our eyes. She looked into my eyes, "You could surrender to me and I would let you and father live. I would even let you rule with me, sister. You may have abandoned me when I was a baby but I shall not abandon you, unless you insist on this war."
I smirked and shrugged. "Oh believe me...I insist on this more than anything."
She sighed and looked over me, "Very well...you chose your battle and now, I will choose mine."
She yelled out fire and arrows came raining down on us. I screamed for my men to shield themselves. Some shielded themselves with their shields while others turned into their werewolf form. The vampires flew up above them and rained huge boulders on the guards posted around the castle walls. I saw several of the fae fly up and try to attack the vampires. But the vampires powers made them more swift and prone to flight attack. Several fell from the sky wounded or dead.
I took out my sword and so did my sister. We fought sword to sword. She gashed my arm and then I would fight back just as hard against her. When the battle dust finally cleared, I walked over her dead body and spit on top of it. I cleared my mouth and then walked up to see if I could find my father. He was down in the dungeons of the castle working to free the wolves. He looked at me, "Where is your sister?"
I raised my chin in the air and sighed, "Dead...where is Taymore?"
Taymore came out from behind the steel door, "I'm right here...I'm so sorry, Adonnenniel." He pulled me into his arms and held me close. I relished his arms around me. He whispered against my ear, "I will never leave you again willingly. I promise you..."I could tell he felt really bad about my sister capturing him and putting him under a spell. I smiled through tears of relief, "It's quiet alright. I was able to fight them and get to you which was my goal. But now we have a bigger fight on our hands. We've taken Paranoose but there is still the main city. There is Dinala and Cazindome we must take back now. I will not stop till all the evil is vanquished from Crystalline."
Taymore's father came up beside us, "Yes and now we shall plan on how to get to Cazindome within the next two months. We cannot afford to wait another year."
Taymore looked at my father and his, "And then...Adonnenniel and I shall rule Crystalline...her rightful place to be in."
